JOB SUMMARY:
The Arlington PublicLibrary is looking for an enthusiastic intern to assist the LibraryCommunications team.

Under generalsupervision, this position assists in coordination and creation of compelling,results-driven communication initiatives to ensure consistency and impactfulmessaging to a diverse range of library users, stakeholders, supporters, andthe community at large.

ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS:

  • Assist staff with creation of promotional materials for library programs and services for a wide range of age groups using the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Support library promotional campaigns and programming, producing photo and video content.
  • Assist in managing social media platforms and websites in conjunction with City-wide style and policy to promote library resources and services.
SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS:
This is a part-timeposition that requires a varied work schedule. This position will work 15-20hours per week and will require some evening and weekend hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesRequired:
  • Ability toedit graphic design for digital and print media using Adobe products.
  • Stronginterpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other professionals, provideand receive constructive feedback, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule as necessary.
  • Ability toperform a variety of physical skills including, but not limited to, seeing,walking, standing, sorting, carrying, filing, and writing.
  • Ability tolift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 50 lbs., moving up to 75 lbs.,and pushing/pulling items weighing up to 300 lbs.
QUALIFYING EDUCATION ANDEXPERIENCE:
  • Somecollege coursework, with an advertising/communications major
