Environmental Engineer

Location- Pasadena, TX

Type of position: Contract

Purpose of the job- Manages all plant environmental systems to include interfacing with and reporting to Local permitting agencies, and National permitting agencies. Ensure development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental abatement processes and procedures to ensure site compliance with regulatory requirements. Lead and manage the development of the ISO14001 management system, be responsible for conformance and participation with Community Advisory Panels, OSHA, TCEQ, and EPA regulators.

Main responsibilities: Managing Environmental Abatement Systems

  • Overseeing and directing systems and procedures related to Environmental discharge, abatement, and disposal streams.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental and health regulations.
  • Provide continuous improvement to existing environmental systems and procedures while providing leadership to enhance and improve all aspects of EHS.
  • Ensuring successful certification, administration, and continuous improvement of management systems for ISO 14001
  • Ensuring all regulatory environmental reporting requirements, including monthly and annual KPIs, are completed and accurate
  • Monitoring safety aspects of engineering projects and participating in the Management of Change on site.
  • Ensuring proper waste disposal, including hazardous and non-hazardous wastewater.
  • Supporting Health and Safety actions in the plant

Required Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field with a strong focus on Waste Creation and Management.
  • 3 + years of professional experience in a quality or environmental management system function within an Industrial setting
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in ISO 9001 and especially ISO 14001 systems
  • Must have strong Health and safety experience
  • Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Competent with computer software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Technical knowledge and experience in EHS disciplines and regulations.
