The Keller Group is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Director of Accounting to join a long term client of ours. The Director of Accounting will play a critical role in overseeing all aspects of the company's accounting operations, managing a midsize team, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Reporting directly to the CFO, the ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of accounting principles, and a strategic mindset to support our company's continued growth and success. This is a newly created role for a stable, growing organization based in Phoenix. This role will sit onsite but has flexibility with start/end times. Responsibilities: Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial analysis and performance metrics. Develop and maintain financial models to forecast and track company performance. Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor a midsize accounting team, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure high performance and professional growth. Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial records. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members. Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other relevant financial standards. Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate annual audits and tax filings. Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices, implementing necessary updates to accounting policies and procedures. Strategic Planning and Decision Support: Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute strategic financial plans to support company objectives and drive profitability. Assess financial risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to mitigate risks and capitalize on growth opportunities. Support business development initiatives through financial analysis and due diligence activities. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including sales, operations, and procurement, to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and achieve company goals. Serve as a key liaison between the accounting department and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment of objectives. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred. Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 5+ years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance requirements. Experience working in the manufacturing or distribution industry preferred. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and collaborate across departments. Proven track record of driving process improvements, implementing best practices, and delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
