Job Summary

To develop, integrate, implement, and verify technical solutions and compliance documentation compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements, within agreed program, schedule, and manufacturing constraints.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, check/approve technical solutions and compliance documentation for workpackges to ensure they are compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements, within agreed program, schedule, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Identify, analyse and resolve technical problems and apply/integrate solutions.
  • Develop, execute, and verify methods plans, toolsets and approaches that are appropriate and compliant to achieve the design and programme objectives.
  • Analyse customer requirements and define the associated technical solutions as input for bids and proposals within assigned pgms/projects. Prepare Preliminary Means of Compliance to the customer requirements.
  • Identify and assess technical risk and propose mitigations relevent to the workpackage within assigned programmes/projects.
  • Generate and check test specifications/plans and/or alternate means of compliance (analysis/similarity) as required to demonstrate design solution complies with certification requirements.
  • Develop and check/approve designs compliant to cost and manufacturing requirements using appropriate techniques for design such as manufacture and assembly (DFMA) and design to cost.
  • Create and check/approve design definitions of a workpackage, including integration, interfaces, dimensions, materials, parts, manufacturing process requirements, assemblies, and tolerances which are compliant to all design requirements and objectives.
  • Generate or review, and sign as appropriate the assigned project deliverables, documents, and reports according to the project signature authorizations.
  • Mentor and development of engineers within assigned programmes.
  • Support with the creation and delivery of training material and initiatives relevant to a workpackage/programme.
  • Support and participate in technical and customer reviews, including formal gate reviews, including the creation and preparation of technical data and presentations of a workpackage.
  • Process and verify documentation such as concessions and non-conformances, and provide technical support by implementing solutions to address non-conforming products, designs, and compliance documentation.
  • Perform all activities at a level of minimal supervision and guide other engineers within the workpackage as required.
  • Identify improvements and create and/or check the work instructions, procedures, technical manuals, and guidelines.
  • Support operations and support manufacturing engineering team in translation of the product design and manufacturing requirements of a work package in a manufacturing design during prototype build and serial manufacturing, where applicable.
  • Support the qualification process of products within a workpackage, and prepare and/or check compliance documentation to internal, customer, and regulatory requirements, where applicable.


Job Qualifications

Required Experience
•Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering / related field.
•5+ years' experience in engineering design, project, manufacturing and/or operations.
•3+ years aerospace industry design systems

Additional Experience
•GKN Experience
•Able to travel 15% domestically, and internationally as required.
•Proficiency in blueprint interpretation (GD&T).
•Knowledge of machine shop processes.
•Proficiency in general computer skills (Windows & MS Office).
•Good interpersonal team working and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders, including building trust between P&W and GKN Engineers.
•Knowledge of aerospace industry design systems (P&W preferred).
•Some product knowledge of Intermediate case (IMC) as well as Turbine Exhaust Case (TEC).
•CAD education or experience (Teamcenter & NX Unigraphics preferred).
•Some FE education or experience (ANSYS preferred).
•Proactive in regards to new developments of expertise required.
•Self-motivated, resourceful, strong minded and committed.
•Able to demonstrate the ability to work, and deliver, under own initiative.
•Innovative toward all aspects of the job.
•Flexible and capable of working in a complex environment.
