Plans, directs and manages CMU's Office of Indigenous Affairs unit. Serves as an advisor to administrative officers, faculty and staff regarding educational programs and policies for Indigenous peoples. Participates in the recruitment of Indigenous students. Develops and administers retention programs for Indigenous students. Directs and manages the grant funded program MICUP known as the Student Transition Enrichment Program. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferably in Education, Social Sciences or related field.One year experience working with Indigenous tribes, communities, organizations and/or agencies. Experience directing a program, preferably diversity-related programs.Extensive knowledge of Indigenous peoples social, cultural, historical, and educational issues. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to work as a team player.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective cross-cultural communications.Working knowledge of higher education.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image.Ability to perform the essential functions and requirements of the job.Demonstrated ability to work with Indigenous tribes.Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree.Experience working with Indigenous peoples higher education issues.Historical knowledge of the Anishnaabe and/or other Michigan tribes.Demonstration of scholarship on Indigenous peoples cultural and education issues or social values. Duties & Responsibilities: Plans, develops and administers programs to better educate the CMU community about Native American history and experiences.Plans, develops and administers programs and policies to provide educational opportunities for Native Americans.Cooperates with tribal, agency and other Native American organizations to develop educational programs to meet the needs and interests of students and organizations.Coordinates and serves as liaison for the NSF ANLSAMP (All Nations Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Program).Coordinates the North American Indigenous Student Enrichment Camp.Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects addressing Native American issues.Analyzes data to evaluate educational programs and participation of Native American students Prepares budget and determines allocation of funds for staff, supplies and equipment.Confers with CMU administrators and tribal councils and/or their designees to assist in formulating policies to meet demonstrated needs and CMU's relationship with the tribe.Identifies funding opportunities, develops strategies to secure funding, and administers resulting programs and projects as they related to Indigenous peoples affairs.Works with Admissions to recruit students to on- and off-campus programs.Works with faculty and staff development programs in the area of multicultural awareness.Advises and/or works with the Native American Indigenous Student Organization (NAISO) to plan educational activities for the campus and local community.Continually reviews university policies, procedures and programs to ensure they are consistent with CMU's commitment, efforts and activities regarding educational opportunities for Indigenous peoples.Serves on the President's Advisory Council on Native American Educational Initiatives.Oversees the MICUP Student Transition Enrichment Program (STEP) including the operation budgets, program and staff.Supervises the STEP Academic Advisor Collaborate with Community College STEP liaisons on a monthly basis.Serves on the Mount Pleasant Indian Industr
