Responsibilities:
Production Management:
Direct and coordinate daily operations of the manufacturing plant with Production Manager (Heather)
Oversee production scheduling to minimize changeovers and downtime.
Optimize production processes to improve efficiency, output and reduce costs.
Team Leadership:
Lead, coach, develop and motivate the production management team to support them in their roles.
Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Resource Management:
Manage resources effectively, including continuous improvement through training, equipment, and process improvements.
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety regulations and SQF requirements.
Quality Assurance:
Implement quality control procedures and continuous improvement initiatives, meeting with department heads regularly.
Address quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
Budget and Cost Management:
Monitor expenditures and implement cost-saving measures.
Optimize resource allocation to achieve financial targets.
Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with organizational goals.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational/equipment enhancements.
Drive initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and profitability.
Reporting and Communication:
Prepare regular reports on plant performance, including production metrics, and quality metrics.
Communicate effectively with senior management, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience in role.
Proven experience as a Plant Manager or in a similar role within manufacturing or production, preferably food related.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and safety standards.
Proficiency in budget management and cost control.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment:
Typically works in a manufacturing plant environment.
May require working irregular hours and weekends to oversee production schedules and address operational issues.
Must adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate protective gear.
