Using Organization Standards of Behavior-demonstrate professionalism at all times with patients and co-workers. A team player is necessary for this position of variable skills, organization, attention to detail and independent working environment. Fast paced setting requires independent thinking and ability and willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changes. The Chain of Command for this position will be the Operations Supervisor and then Day surgery manager. Responsibilities:

Performs clerical duties associated with admitting, transferring, and discharging patients. Registers DSU patients and reviews, confirms, and updates (as necessary) all patient demographic and financial information. Reminds patients to contact their insurance carriers. Answers calls in a friendly and timely manner. Assists callers without breaching patient confidentiality. Creates daily scheduling of surgical procedures within Surgical Services. Prepares forms and consents relative to patient encounters prior to patient arrival. Receives initial notification from surgical offices, provides confirmation, and accurately documents in Surginet. Contacts patients to provide dates and times to present to the hospital for pre-admission and admission. Enters daily charges and works closely with coders to ensure accuracy. Ensures documentation of pre-certification and authorization numbers in the computer system. Other duties as assigned. Education:

Required High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Working Conditions:

Potential exposure to very hot or cold temperatures. Work with computers, typing, reading or writing. Prolonged periods of sitting.
