Under administrative direction, responsible for providing sustainable growth and a strong, diversified economic base by engaging in aggressive economic development and tourism promotion activities.Develops and manages strategies for recruiting businesses to the City of Farmers Branch. Responsibilities include preparing RFP responses, document preparation and formal reporting; research, property analysis and business forecasting; community trusteeship and stakeholder engagement and relationship networking; scheduling business visitations and CEO/CFO/COO interviews; prospecting through tradeshows, corporate luncheons, mixers, etc.; broker/banker/property owner relationship building; and grant writing, application presentation and reporting (TIFs).

Generates hotel room revenue through the coordination and management of contract and service staff professionals; responsible for destination marketing, incentive fund administration and hotel relations; conducts trend analysis, forecasting and budgeting; completes market analysis and grant research and applications.

Develops marketing strategies and incentives to promote business retention and expansion within the City. Facilitates communication and interaction between the City and local businesses, organizations and community groups.

Promotes direct visitor spending through the coordination and management of the Dr. Pepper StarCenter; collaborates with Historical Park and Tourism on special events; and, responsible for the recruitment and coordination of the Hospitality Action Team.Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Master's degree preferred.

Graduate of the Economic Development Institute (EDI) is preferred.

Knowledge of Texas statutes regarding incentives, tax increment financing and use of municipal hotel occupancy tax.

Five years of progressively responsible related experience is required.

Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a criminal background check, drug/alcohol test and a motor vehicle review.Work requires managing and monitoring work performance of a department including evaluating program or work objectives and effectiveness, establishing broad organizational goals and realigning work and staffing assignments for the department.

Final decisions regarding policy development and implementation are made and/or recommended. Interaction with others outside the organization requires exercising participative management skills that support team efforts and quality processes.

This position normally performs the duty assignments within broad parameters defined by general organizational requirements and accepted practices. End results determine effectiveness of job performance.

Work requires advanced skills and knowledge in approaches and systems, which affect the design and implementation of major programs and/or processes organization-wide. Independent judgment and decision-making abilities are necessary to apply technical skills effectively.

This position has responsibility for final approval of budgetary recommendations. This position monitors progress toward fiscal objectives and adjusts plans as necessary.

Advanced ability to apply fundamental concepts of theories, work with advanced mathematical operations methods, and functions of real and complex variables. Advanced ability to write editorials, journals, speeches, manuals, or critiques. #J-18808-Ljbffr
