Our client is a leading Tier 1 supplier in the automotive industry, dedicated to innovation and excellence in the design and manufacturing of cutting-edge Systems and Components. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sales Applications Engineer - JOEM Accounts.

As a Sales Applications Engineer with knowledge of Japanese Original Equipment Manufacturers (JOEM), you will be pivotal in driving business growth and ensuring customer satisfaction, as well as cultivating/maintaining strong business relationships. This position will serve as the customer's technical advisor and account manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical and Professional Expertise
    • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of automotive systems and components in the areas of Body and/or Chassis, with a focus on JOEM requirements.
    • Experience with engineering disciplines: GD&T, DFMEA, PPAP/PSW, QOS, etc.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and present technical solutions to customers.
    • Participate in open issues (internal) meetings with global manufacturing facilities, engineering centers and automotive manufacturers.
    • Lead the development of customer technical review presentations for new business opportunities, on-going business and high-level management reviews.
    • Identify and proactively support discussions to determine the strategic direction to enhance profitability and proficiency of the company.
  • Customer Interaction
    • Represent the company as the key customer interface.
    • This position demands a blend of technical proficiency, entrepreneurial sales acumen and a deep understanding of the automotive industry.
    • Exchange commercial information and build relationships within the company and its customers as a reliable local presence
    • Lead the quoting efforts for commercial negotiations and provide the information required to develop responses.
    • Conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations to showcase the value proposition.
    • Pursue new business opportunities with the customer
    • Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support to ensure customer satisfaction and build lasting relationships.
  • Market Intelligence
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities and emerging technologies in the automotive sector.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to internal teams based on market intelligence.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven experience as a Sales Applications Engineer in the automotive industry, with Japanese OEM clients
  • 5+ years in total experience
  • 3+ years experience of involvement in technical sales at a tier 1 supplier or equivalent
  • Experience in responding to and the development of RFQs
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both customers and internal teams
  • Strong understanding of automotive systems and components. Areas of preference are body, chassis or interiors - to include technical specifications and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with engineering disciplines: GD&T, DFMEA, PPAP/PSW, QOS, etc
  • A high level of proficiency using Microsoft Office and CAD expertise - CATIA, UG, etc
  • Having both a proactive and solutions-based customer relations approach with clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability and valid documentation to travel internationally for customer visits to our technical center for engineering reviews, manufacturing site visits and launch support activities
  • Passion and an entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to demonstrate perseverance
