Job Summary:

Provides counseling and support services to students in a primary or secondary school setting. Provides mental health consultation services to build the capacity of those caring for young children. Partners with early care and education providers and families to address the social/behavioral/mental health needs of children and families. Works with a focus on providing early intervention and prevention services to improve emotional well-being, coping skills, general adaptive functioning, and social competence of children and families. Acts in accordance with department mission, philosophy, and goals.

Job Duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primarily responsible for providing clinical services relating to observation, intake, screening, and referrals including but not limited to psychotherapy and case management for the early education setting.

Be accessible for consultation to early learning settings and provide crisis intervention and de-escalation services.

Uses a framework of promotion, prevention, and early intervention to promote mental health and resilience and prevention of behavioral difficulties for those at risk.

Acts as a resource regarding early childhood development with an emphasis on emotional and behavioral health and the importance of the relationship between the participant and child/family.

Completes assessment plans to support participants, children, and families.

Provides observations and recommendations regarding the social-emotional environment to assist in identifying children in need of support with behavioral, emotional, or developmental concerns.

Develops written intervention strategies utilizing a team approach to assist staff in developing positive behavior support strategies to promote optimal social-emotional development.

Collaborates with childcare providers, families, directors, managers, and other team members to build their knowledge and skills to support the needs of children and families.

Provides group and individual training on overall social and emotional wellness with specific topics related to child development, trauma-informed care, attachment, self-care, and other related topics.

Partners and supports early care and education providers to support ongoing communication with parents regarding mental health, behavioral, or developmental concerns of their children.

Adheres to all data and program requirements.

Develops and maintains knowledge of resources and referrals in the community.

Demonstrates sensitivity to linguistic, cultural, social, economic, individual and role differences among persons and families served.

Provides services that are family-centered and relationship-based.

Maintains established work schedule, is punctual, keeps appointments, willing to adapt schedule to meet unexpected needs and changes, and utilizes time effectively.

Maintains, keeps clean, and utilizes efficiently and safely the agencys/departments physical facility and equipment.

Communicates in a positive, respectful, and courteous manner.

Understands and maintains private and sensitive information within the confines of need-to-know parameters.

Submits accurate and complete reports as per program guidelines and according to program timelines.

Accurately identifies areas of mastery and areas targeted for personal growth and development. Seeks assistance and guidance when needed.

Incorporates constructive direction from supervisor to improve job performance.

Maintains awareness of current professional information in the fields of activity, undertakes regular and ongoing efforts to maintain competencies in the skills used, and incorporates new knowledge and skills on the job.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.

Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.

Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

Masters degree.

2 or more years of experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess and maintain current license to practice in the state of Oklahoma. License must be in one of the following areas: Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Work (LMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT).

Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six (6) months of employment and maintain throughout employment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
