Position is for an Assistant Director for our Spring Creek Recovery Center-Adults

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the clinical and operational lead for the center’s shift operations while on duty.
  • Promotes a recovery environment for staff and guests that reflects person-centered, culturally competent, and trauma-informed principles as well as the service values of CREOKS Behavioral Health Services.
  • Inspires and motivates staff to maintain a customer-oriented focus for guests and stakeholders as well as creates a culture of respect, helpfulness, and courtesy amongst staff.
  • Ensures that staff maintain the clinical records system in accordance with ODMHSAS, OHCA, DHS and CREOKS policies and procedures.
  • Reads and is knowledgeable of all current policies and procedures of the agency as well as Chapter 23, Chapter 15, Chapter 18, and other applicable state and federal regulations. Develops, revises and ensures CREOKS policies and procedures for this service are current and in compliance with accrediting/certification organizations.
  • Continually strives to learn about new practices that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the program in providing recovery-oriented, person-centered, and culturally competent services.
  • Performs a comprehensive mental health assessment, that includes evaluation of mental status, current and past history of violence, suicidal or self-harm behavior, substance use, level of functioning, health behaviors, trauma, sexual behaviors, and social and developmental history
  • Identifies and analyzes factors that affect mental health such as: genetics, family, environment, trauma, psychodynamics, physiological processes, substance abuse, etc.
  • Collects data from multiple sources using assessment techniques that are appropriate to the guest’s language, culture, and developmental stage, including, but not limited to, screening evaluations and other standardized instruments.
  • Diagnoses psychiatric and co-occurring disorders.
  • Evaluates potential abuse, neglect, and risk of danger to self and others, such as suicide, homicide, and other self-injurious behaviors, and assists guests and families in securing the least restrictive environment for ensuring safety.
  • Initiates and/or ensures appropriate responses to all medical emergencies in accordance with agency medical protocols and agency procedures.
  • Oversees safety intervention procedures as appropriate to the facility.
  • Working knowledge of the standards for initial assessment, protective custody, emergency detention, care, and adjudication of persons considered in need of involuntary treatment as prescribed by Title 43-A, Oklahoma Mental Health Law.
  • Communicates complaints and incidents to supervisory personnel in accordance with agency policies.
  • Serves all guests without regard to their background or history, placing the guest’s needs above all other considerations.
  • Models and practices recovery principles in all activities (e.g. hope, empowerment, mutuality, etc.) and fosters a recovery environment.
  • Serves as a positive role model demonstrating professional and caring attitudes and behaviors toward co-workers, guests, and visitors.
  • Courteously provides assistance in a concise, informative manner, keeping a positive tone and appropriate non-verbals.
  • Exhibits a non-judgmental approach, effective listening, good eye contact and positive interactions.
  • Ensures confidentiality of all guest information.
  • Contributes to effective teamwork by combining skills and energies in a coordinated effort with supervisors, co-workers, guests, and outside agencies.
  • Utilizes available methods to maintain communication (e.g. memos, electronic communications, communication logs and shift reports).
  • Understands and utilizes non-violent crisis intervention procedures towards the de-escalation of an agitated guest as needed. Participates in safety interventions as a last resort when de-escalation fails. Follows approved format.
  • Be on-call to support the Crisis Unit Director and the program.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related degree.
  • Possess a valid Oklahoma license or license eligible to practice psychotherapy.
  • Ability to motivate staff and inspire them to maintain a customer-oriented focus with guests, stakeholders, and other staff members that reflects the values of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, culturally competent, and co-occurring care.
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate authority and supervise employees.
  • Thorough understanding of the standards for initial assessment, protective custody, emergency detention, care, and adjudication of persons considered in need of involuntary treatment as prescribed by Title 43-A, Oklahoma Mental Health Law.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of crisis intervention as well as recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, culturally competent, and co-occurring care.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Conceptual awareness of how and where community mental health services interface with allied human services organizational activities.
  • Ability to maintain flexible hours.
  • Must be available for on-call response as needed.
  • Must have a valid OK driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of agency-required training as well as the agency approved nonviolent crisis de-escalation training within 30 days from date of hire.
