We are looking for a Medical Product Engineer to create products to improve functionality, quality, sustainability, and manufacturability in our Johnson Medtech, Vandalia, OH location. Develop new products in areas of printed electronics, electrochemical sensors and wearable medical devices from R&D phase to production through strategic planning and gate-review processes, to achieve product metrics and exceed customer expectations. Improve existing product designs and processes through design of experiments and optimization. This position works with JMT cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality etc. From early definition of the product requirements to high volume production stage, the Medical Product Engineer also help identify, evaluate, and recommend the required capital equipment, as well as develops new processes which may be required prior to product release,

Your responsibilities will be to:

  • Leading medical product development: working with application engineers on new opportunities; creating product specifications; developing technical plans for execution
  • Design products and perform materials, product and process related testing and method development for new products. Measure and analyze key product characteristics
  • Use current processes and equipment to make prototypes. Create protocols and write FDA and ISO regulated documents for new material and new process qualification
  • Define and source required equipment and tooling required for product development
  • Lead design reviews for new product development and be an active member of a cross functional team (CFT)
  • Documentation of key development & processes for new products, including DFMEA's, risk management. Familiar with DOEs, Product Characterization, IQ/OQ/PQ reports, Work Instructions & Control Plans
  • Work with processing team in newly developed processes to ensure smooth transition to production. Identify key process requirements for DFM considerations
Our requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or above in engineering (mechanical, chemical, electrical, or similar)
  • Proven experience with product designs and development
  • Proven experience managing technical projects across different stages
  • Experience in product launch
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment for new product development
Would be advantageous:
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment for new product development
  • Master's degree in engineering
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Other experience in CMM programming; automation process; mechanic, electric and reliability testing; 3D printing etc
