ERP Manager

Lisle, United States CareerBuilder Full time

Thank you for stopping by to take a look at the ERP Manager role I posted here on LinkedIN. If you have read my job descriptions before, welcome back. If you are new to my JD's, you will see some humor in this JD. Life is too short to have some humor. Plus, I realized - quite a while ago - that looking for work is about as fun as getting a root canal. So, if I can make it easier, I will gladly do that.

The hiring manager for this one is one of my closest friends, so I know her well. For her, social fit is just as important as a technical fit. You might ask....'what are these social fit things you speak of?'. I'm glad you asked....here are a few:
This is an environment that thrives on the ability to see the 'big picture'. Granted, those individual ERP tasks are important...but the ability to see how a change to D365 here or there will affect overall profitability, distribution and throughput will be very important for this role.
A great 'deskside manner' is very important here. If you are that welcoming spirit that first seeks to understand...then to be understood, we will be off to a great start for this role.
We aren't seeking a 'rockstar'. If you can rock out to Stairway or Everlong then you could be a rockstar. Here's my point...we aren't seeking someone with a gargantuan ego or someone that believes they are God's gift to IT.

This role is permanent and requires someone to be located in the Chicagoland area (or relocate to the Chicagoland area). In addition, I can only work with US Citizens or Green Card Holders for this role.

For this role, we are looking for someone that has a combination of really super solid PM skills and experience implementing and supporting ERP Systems. So, if you started your career as a consultant and the moved into a team lead role, that would be great to see. Your strengths in Project Management and Business Analysis will be needed for this role as well, as you will be working on D365 to continue to build out these applications to meet the needs of the business. This also means that you will be asking the right questions of various stakeholders in the business and not just 'taking orders'. This is where your solid experience in distribution will come in handy. It is that understanding of how warehouses, essentially, behave and how supply chains, essentially, behave that will help you in terms of what questions to ask and where to pivot to understand what is really needed as opposed to simply taking orders. Coaching others to do this work well is also part of the gig; there are 3-4 people that will be reporting to you as well as some consultants.

You will be understanding the business, understanding which systems are not aligned with the business and then fix what needs to be fixed. So, in other words, you will be defining projects, working on high level designs and solutions, and then working with the team to build, test and deploy.

You will be engaging with business and process owners for this mid-sized multi-national. (for this North American distribution company with around 50 sites and over 750 users.) You are going to learn a lot in your first 30-90 days here, so if you are a 'sponge' and a constant learner, you are going to fit right in here.

Rather than going through an exhaustive list of responsibilities, I am going to assume that you already know what the key responsibilities are for a role like this one.
Here are the key areas of expertise we are seeking in a candidate for this role:
Solid Project Management and BA experience in ERP. This will need to include experience with D365 F&O.
At least 1 D365 implementation.
Experience with the Distribution.
I am purposely keeping the requirements section brief...as most ERP managers know, there are JDs there looking for the impossible candidate. I decided, rather, to focus on the real gotta haves which is that solid D365 experience from a PM & BA standpoint with at least 1 implementation. We also need you to have experience in the Distribution vertical or Supply Chain world.
