Provides supervision of a sleep trainee.ResponsibilitiesPromotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.Assures patient/personal safety by maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.Upon patients arrival, verify identification, review medical orders, collect documents and obtain consent for the study.Explain the procedure and orient the patient for either in Center or out of Center sleep testing.Ensures proper instrumentation for each procedure.Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.Perform routine Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) interface fitting and desensitization.Respond to sleep patients procedural-related inquiries by providing appropriate information.Follow procedural protocols (such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration, etc.) to ensure collection of appropriate data.Perform appropriate physiological calibrations to ensure proper signals and make required adjustments.Follow lights out procedures to establish and document baseline values (such as body position, oxyhemoglobin saturation, respiratory and heart rates, etc.).Follow lights on procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process (e.g. repeat the physiological and instrument calibrations and instruct the patient on completing questionnaires, checking for completeness, etc.).Assists with maintenance of supplies and equipment.Documents concisely, precisely and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policy.Participates in quality assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and for the Center.Compliance with the attendance policy.Ability to respond quickly, physically and mentally when priorities and/or the patients condition changes.Function independently without constant supervision.Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.Maintains confidentiality of patient and Center related business.Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to read and legibly write, communicate appropriately and effectively, understand and execute instructions as needed and visually distinguish color.Compliance with continuing and mandatory education programs.Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.Maintain current CPR or BLS certification.Demonstrate computer skills appropriate for the position.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Current CPR or BLS certification.Successful completion of a sleep technology program associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility, preferred.Six months of experience as a sleep technician I with documented proficiency in all required competencies, preferred.Holds a Certified Polysomnography Technician (CPSGT) credential or equivalent, or a BRPT aligned credential making them board eligible, preferred. Physical Demands/Working ConditionsWorking Conditions: Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation and repetitive motions; Category 1-Occupational exposure. Physical Demands: Frequently required to stand; full range of body motion including crouching, stooping, reaching, bending and twisting may be required. Use of hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to walk and sit. Must regularly lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
