Description

  • Manage all TEA Special Education Compliance work streams and utilize project management tools to achieve target outcomes.
  • Manage the department-wide implementation of the TEA Self-Assessment initiative to include addressing the required compliance/strategy areas through engagement groups, evaluative rubrics, and evidence-based analysis leading to the improvement of the special education program.
  • Develop and implement targeted professional learning plans to bring awareness to the Special Education Operating Procedures to central-campus based special education and school leadership personnel.
  • Manage the collection and review of evidence for TEA Strategic Support Plans as a result of State Performance Plan Indicator Corrective Actions, as required.
  • Continually evaluate systems of support through project outcomes in correlation with objectives, critical case trends, campus support responsiveness, parent engagement, and assisting campus administration with critical case resolution.
  • Assist with the resolution of critical cases as they relate to students receiving special education services to include parent complaints, mandated record requests, and Staffings in a positive, problem-solving manner.
  • Assist with the internal investigations of parent complaint investigation requests referred from the Texas Education Agency.
  • Coordinate and co-facilitate resolution meetings to develop focused/targeted supports for corrective action with central-campus based special education and school leadership personnel to ensure correct implementation of student's Individualized Education Program.
  • Assist with monitoring and tracking critical case data to ensure compliance of mandated corrective actions within the TEA Investigative Report.
  • Create a quarterly newsletter and distribute to internal stakeholders regarding TEA Special Education Compliance updates, and professional learning opportunities.
  • Conduct professional learning for department initiatives as needed or requested; develop and facilitate workshops and/or training modules for TEA Special Education Compliance, including critical case management, with related internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records, organizational skills and professional conduct to achieve the goals of the position.
  • Coordinate the activities of the department in accordance with the district's policies and applicable laws.
  • Perform all duties relating to the IDEA-B formula grant at 100 percent.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Education, Management , or related field.
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned Preferred
  • Experience Required 3-5 Direct in Education or related field
  • Minimum five years of experience in education including successful leadership/management outcomes preferred.
  • Strong record of self-starting and taking initiative.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in technology skills (Microsoft Office and Google Suite)
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with frequent interruptions.
  • Participate and support the development of an effective team in the department.
  • Proficiency in leading, planning, organizing, and conducting effective professional development at a district level.Skills in coaching, mentoring, building teams, problem-solving, and taking initiative.
  • Effectively analyze problems, issues, and concerns and formulate appropriate alternative solutions
  • Communication and relational skills to interact effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Understanding of school district organizations, operations, and administrative policies.
  • Must have experience or demonstrated a desire to work in an urban school district.
