Lead Cost Engineer

Pay:
Between $80 ST and $95 ST per hour.
Per Diem:
$135 x 7 days a week. Customer would prefer local candidates. However, they will not rule out per diem. The emphasis is on finding the right candidate for this critical and high-profile position.
Schedule:
40-50 hours per week, Mon through Fri. and weekends when necessary
Duties/Responsibilities:
Position is responsible for compiling job cost estimates, preliminary turnaround and/or project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Typical Duties
Develop job cost management execution plan.
Establish Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) and integrate with WBS
Develop preliminary turnaround or project cost from job estimates.
Set up Vendor files and collect contracts.
Develop average job cost rates for estimating, if required
Review all POs as issued for cost committed and T&C analysis.
Verify other committed cost information against contract T&C
Collect daily warehouse material issues and repair receipts.
Enter all project committed cost data into cost tracking system.
Adjust forecast to reflect change orders and other variances.
Conduct random quantity survey of daily information received.
Collect and enter all committed costs – labor, equipment, and materials.
Analyze cost data and forecast final cost per project by work order by vendor.
Report turnaround and project actual vs. baseline cost status as required.
Report earned value per vendor and identify trends that impact the final cost projections.
Prepare final cost report to client.
Experience Requirements
(including software/IT systems):
MS Office suite and TAR Cost Planning software familiarity.
Initial Mobilization To Jobsite/
Final Demobilization From Jobsite:
(at start and finish of assignment)
For out-of-town travelers, mileage reimbursement at the current IRS rate ($0.67 in 2024) per mile traveled, plus 1 day per diem for every 520 miles traveled. Demobilization only paid to the candidate upon their successful completion of the assignment.
Furloughs:
For out-of-town travelers, after every 7 weeks of work, (A) Paid coach-class (purchased at least 2 weeks in advance) roundtrip airline tickets home – or – (B) paid roundtrip mileage at current IRS rate. Must communicate timing with customer and use the Furlough Approval Form and get signed by customer prior to taking furlough. Flights must be purchased at least 2 weeks in advance to take advantage of good pricing/rates. No paid wages during furloughs.
