Position Title:IACT Coordinator for Israel Engagement

Position Type:Full-time

In person at Harvard Hillel, Cambridge, MA

Harvard Hillel, in partnership with Hillel International's IACT initiative, seeks an IACT coordinator for Israel Engagement who will work in conjunction with the Hillel staff to manage and bolster the success of Harvard Hillels engagement strategy with a focus on its birthright Israel program.

The IACT Israel Educator is the front-line program professional at Harvard Hillel, responsible for delivering a variety of opportunities for undergraduate students to engage with and learn about Israel, both on campus and through our Birthright & "Beyond" (Extension) trips. This person will bring enthusiasm and curiosity to conversations of all shapes and sizes with Harvard students.
Reporting Structure

The IACT Israel Educator reports directly to Harvard Hillel's Director of Student Life and is an integral member of the undergraduate-facing programming team. Additionally, the IACT Israel Educator participates in all elements of Hillel International's programming for the cohort of IACT professionals, reporting approximately monthly to the IACT team.
Core Responsibilities

Engagement
  • Build 180 personal relationships with students who are not already involved in Jewish life.
  • Maintain and enter records of events and engagements for measurement data in HEART.
  • Work collaboratively with our Jewish Agency Israel Fellow to bring Israel programming to Hillel and Harvard University.
  • Advise first-year outreach chair and social action chair on the student board.
  • Recruit and advise the community engagement interns (CEIs).
Harvard Hillel's Birthright & Beyond trips to Israel

Harvard Hillel runs two Birthright trips annually (winter and summer), each followed by our signature extension program, Beyond, "stay for several more days and go deeper," which offers a deep dive into important social and political issues including Israel's security, ethnic diversity, religious pluralism, regional relations, and territorial disputes, including hearing voices from beyond the 'Green Line.'
  • Manage Birthright Israel program including all recruitment, interviews, pre-trip orientations, and improving the trip experience.
  • Coordinate with our Birthright tour operator to deliver two seven-day Birthright tours.
  • Design a compelling and educationally rigorous itinerary for two seven-day Beyond tours, and coordinate with our Beyond tour operator to deliver these.
  • Manage the post trip engagement by sustaining the goal of 100% participating and developing experiences and opportunities for Birthright Israel alumni.
  • Oversee the IACT Birthright Budget
Programming Team
  • Serve as a thought partner and entrepreneurial leader for Harvard Hillel's programming team, working towards its collective engagement goals, and shaping its engagement strategy.
  • Frequent attendance at Shabbat meals, social and educational programming
  • Coordinate and facilitate Hillel-wide events.
  • Attend staff meeting and participate with regular supervision with supervisor.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2+ years of professional work experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and project management skills
  • Passion for engaging with college students.
  • Strong knowledge of Israeli politics, history, and society
  • Capability to engage with complex and challenging narratives about Israel.
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently and collaboratively.
Compensation

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary.
