**Job Description** The DME Patient Service Representative is responsible for coordinating patient flow and account management, managing invoices, and verifying insurance benefits for patients. The DME Patient Services Representative is also responsible for fulfilling prior authorization requests and ensuring referrals are approved by physicians. This job opening is for our Elgin Clinic.

**Essential Duties**

* Manages DME store cash wrap, manages inventory and dispenses DME for walk-in patients as well as patients sent by the clinical practice

* Educates patients on the products

* Manages process for rentals

* Verifies patients' insurance benefits

* Supports clinical scheduling and front desk teams

* Manages patient accounts to ensure information is up-to-date

* Cross-trains on front desk responsibilities

* Orders supplies and patient orthosis

* Processes invoices and bills patients; assists patients who have questions regarding payments

* Obtains prior authorizations for procedures including by successfully completing the authorization process. Includes coding the DME that is ordered prior to the VOB

* Coordinates schedules for the Orthotists to ensure appropriate staffing for daily operations

* Manages patient flow, including scheduling for initial and return appointments

* Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**

**Education** High school diploma or equivalent required.

**Experience** A minimum of one year experience performing similar tasks in a similar position and/or performing similar tasks. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Google suites. Previous experience with EMR system preferred.
