Position Purpose: Staff Accountant processes accounts payable, commissions, computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties:

Responsibilities:
  • Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions.
  • Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.
  • Audits invoices approved by head department, research discrepancies.
  • Prepare vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records, and reviews for accuracy.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts with various registers.
  • Compile expense and accrual reports/analysis.
  • Reconcile report discrepancies and problems.
  • Code data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures.
  • Reviews, balances, and interprets computer reports, and makes correction.
  • Process Commissions
  • Organizes and maintains file system, files correspondence and other records
  • Reads and routes incoming mail. Locates and attaches appropriate file to correspondence to be answered by employer
Qualifications:
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and organization.
  • Proven track record of good communication skills. Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel), Word, PowerPoint and Great Plains accounting system.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks; work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College of Technical School.
