Working under the direction of the Director of Service, the Field Service Engineer is responsible for the installation, training, and service of lens processing and vision diagnostic systems to ensure 100% customer satisfaction. This position is based out of Coburn's Miami, Florida location and requires frequent travel to Latin America. The Field Service Engineer works closely with staff from sales, engineering, operations, and customer service to install winning products that meet or exceed targeted revenues, gross margins and customer expectations by conducting flawless installs, effective product training, site monitoring, and ongoing technical support and field repair service. The Field Service Engineer requires proficiency in understanding product features and benefits, software requirements, and interconnectivity issues so that systems are properly set up, calibrated, and understood by customers. The Field Service Engineer is required to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory, which includes international travel, and occasional travel outside the assigned territory. The Field Service Engineer has exceptional communication skills and is fluent in English and Spanish language, and is a champion of providing customers with an exceptional service experience.Essential Functions of the Field Service EngineerReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Plan, develop and execute well-coordinated product installations and follow-up actions for maximum effectiveness and customer acceptance.Calibrate systems in accordance with product guidelines.Troubleshoot and repair equipment in the field, conduct field upgrades.Gather and report data relative to product installations and customer's lens production throughput.Travel extensively (up to 80%), including international travel, by car and/or air on an "as needed" basis.Provide troubleshooting advice to personnel in technical support, field engineering, and sales.Instruct other installers and field engineers on interconnectivity, software, and hardware issues with systems.Provides functional support activities for the assigned product lines, including product training.May help develop new features and benefits for new product development; identify and assess competitive information.RequirementsElectro-mechanical machinery technical training (certificate or associate degree) and not less than 5 years of progressive field engineering and/or ophthalmic lens lab experience with extensive surfacing, coating, and finishing of eyeglass lenses. Lens processing industry experience is strongly preferred. Fluent in English and Spanish languageTechnically proficient with system troubleshooting and repair.Ability and willingness to travel worldwide (domestic and international).Solid self-management skills with sound common sense.Ability to discuss effectively and confidently technical issues with management, associates, and customers."Can do" winning attitude and passion, goal-driven, drive for success.Skilled in report writing with emphasis on MS Word and Excel.Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.Excellent communication skills (both written and oral); polite, courteous, and professional in appearance.Ability to develop influential relationships with multiple levels within an organization and with customers.Possession of valid driver's license, credit card with sufficient line of credit, and passport in order to travel without restrictions.Work EnvironmentThis job requires extensive travel (75-80%) by car or airplane. This role routinely operates equipment in a lab and/or healthcare office setting. This role routinely uses tools and electrical components.Physical DemandsRegularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand for long period of time (2 to 3 hours), walk, sit, and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move boxes, parts and assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to perform work that may be repetitive in nature and work that requires manual dexterity.Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full time, hourly non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee is expected to work 40 hours per week. During busier times, these hours can fluctuate. Overtime, including evenings and weekends is required.
