About the role

Chica Project is looking for a Development Intern to support the development team in crafting and executing the organization's development strategy from strategic initiatives to grants management. The successful candidate will play a critical role in our organization's growth and ensure strategies for the longevity of our impact and work. Supported by the Director of Development, this individual will work closely with the development, finance and data teams to ensure development goals are cross team supported and met. This internship opportunity is for the 2024-2025 academic year, starting on September 9th, 2024 and ending late June 27, 2025. This is a paid opportunity.

About You

Chica Project is looking for someone who is mission-driven, with a positive attitude to play a critical role in applying our values-aligned screening and application process as we pursue funding opportunities. This is a valuable opportunity for this individual to gain experience in the nonprofit sector, develop funding assessment, critical screening, partnership assessment, report writing, relationship building skills, and join a powerful network of women in Massachusetts and beyond. Further qualifications include:
  • Passionate about youth development, social justice, and community building
  • Experience in values-based screening and assessment
  • Experience working with communities of color and grassroots organizations, with understanding of systemic oppressions including the nonprofit industrial complex
  • Interest in development and funder engagement
  • Forward thinking, radical and equitable approach to funding relationships
  • Flexibility to work independently and in teams as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with asana and project management
  • Willingness to learn, and unlearn, the complexities of philanthropic culture
  • Strong organizational and writing skills
  • Love of continuous learning
Responsibilities:

The position will be mainly responsible for the following areas, but duties can expand beyond central responsibilities of:
  • Collaborate with development team to oversee management and upkeep of CP's database (using asana and Salesforce) for all contributions, specifically grants at all steps of the process (screening, application, cultivation, and reporting);
  • Research available grants with foundations, universities, corporations, and government entities;
  • Draft and review grant applications as needed;
  • Liaise with the finance team to ensure accurate data for all contributions and reporting;
  • Participate in the planning of our fundraising events (Empower Her 5K, etc).
