Job Description

HilltopSecurities is currently looking to hire a Public Finance Operations Associate. The Operations Associate serves as a member of the Public Finance Operations team by providing expertise in tracking and managing banker relationships, as well as transaction information using data management systems including Denali (SharePoint software that automates business processes involved in Municipal Underwriting and Financial Advisory Services) and Salesforce.

The Associate will have a comprehensive understanding of various applications (BI, IPREO, SDC, Dropbox, etc.) utilized in Public Finance in order to serve as a liaison between Banking, Asset Management, Underwriting, Finance, Proposal Development and Systems Administration to ensure consistent operating processes and reporting of data within the department. The scope of the position is operational and cross-functional.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions
  • Supports Public Finance team members in successfully tracking client relationships throughout the Public Finance continuum. This includes all divisions/departments that intersect with Public Finance: Arbitrage Rebate, Government Investment Pools, Continuing Disclosure, Underwriting, and Treasury Management
  • Holds bankers and banking teams accountable to defined processes and practices ensuring client relationship and transaction information is current and accurately reflected within Denali
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Denali system:
    • Provides guidance in identifying and defining Denali data requirements and suggested improvements
    • Drives utilization of Denali by all stakeholders
    • Delivers training and direction to ensure the proper usage of Denali
    • Holds team members accountable for data integrity
    • Routinely audit Denali data for accuracy and completion. Provide oversight to ensure compliance and identify issues and escalate to the appropriate persons.
    • Facilitate monthly transaction data and quarterly client data review with banking teams
  • Will assist users and communicate any issues to the IT department. Join the IT committee to help testing new features/applications prior to go live
  • Promptly communicates and escalates to ensure tight timelines for reporting and audit are met
  • Promotes a culture of compliance by creating a control environment and appropriate management metrics to monitor exceptions to operating procedures
  • Will assist in various aspects of the underwriting closing process
  • Represents the firm in relationships market data suppliers, professional partners, and other outside parties
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Three (3) or more years related experience with data integrity/management systems, developing and improving written procedures, then implementing and tracking progress, creating content for training and conducting training sessions in-person or virtually
  • Excellent analytical/research skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and other back-office systems
  • Ability to manage challenges with composure and able to collaborate well with diverse teams
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written and effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and retain information while demonstrating solid decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work well independently and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational priorities
