AVP Consumer Lending

The AVP, Consumer Lending is responsible for the strategic leadership of the Consumer Lending and Loan Servicing teams, with a focus on developing, implementing and maintaining Credit Union lending applications and resource management, team development and maintaining key partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure an exemplary lending experience for our membership. Under the direction of the VP of Consumer Lending, this position expertly plans, guides, and undertakes initiatives to achieve the Credit Union's strategic goals while effectively communicating with vision and passion that motivates and inspires the department and Credit Union team members to deliver superior results.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Provides exceptional member service; uses Service Standards in every work-related interaction.
- Actively participates in meeting the goals of the department and the Credit Union.
- Serves as a strong example of leadership in work ethic, professionalism, and conduct.
- Uses organizational tools and techniques to complete tasks on time and successfully manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
- Leads by example with a positive, professional tone and demeanor when assisting team members and direct reports.
- Ensures Consumer Lending and Loan Servicing teams provide proper support and development opportunities to frontline team members.
- Identifies and analyzes lending resources, technologies, and features to enhance member experience, increase efficiencies, generate revenue, and/or reduce expenses.
- Collaborates with the Marketing Department to ensure effective communication of Credit Union initiatives, promotions, etc. through digital channels.
- Directly handles and resolves service escalations and complex member situations in conjunction with Member Experience/frontline leaders.
- Regularly collaborates with the leadership of other Credit Union business lines to garner efficiencies, ensure soundness of processes and procedures, and resolve short- and long-term issues.
- In collaboration with Learning & Development, ensures that team members are well-versed and proficient in lending products and services, procedures, and best practices.
- Actively participates in the strategic planning and management.
- Consistently evaluates consumer loan products to ensure competitiveness in the market.
- Responsible for maintaining and growing the overall consumer lending portfolio, including indirect and real estate lending portfolios.
- Develops and implements indirect lending strategy.
- Assesses and maintains oversight of the credit risk quality across consumer loan portfolios by analyzing the management information produced and sanctioning attestations. Ensures that the business and credit partnership is working effectively and that deals are being structured and sanctioned in an effective manner by reviewing and monitoring files. If these are not structured effectively, develops action plans to resolve.
- Responsible for ensuring the department's procedure development and timely revision as appropriate.
- Consistently reviews, evaluates, and creates efficiency expectations to elevate consumer lending and loan servicing processes for procedural adherence and superior service experiences.
- Maintains visibility to team members and members to remain apprised of end-user experience.
- Defines key performance indicators (KPIs) and, most notably, metrics to best evaluate our business model; uses data to make sound business decisions and recommendations.
- Provides coaching, completes performance reviews and corrections, and seeks opportunities for development for department team members to ensure goal attainment and overall team effectiveness.
- Guides team members as it relates to solving problems, conflict management, and member advocacy.
- Evaluates and executes talent management strategies that effectively address department staffing, coaching and development skills, and succession planning to support desired operational outcomes.
- Identifies and works with leadership, peers, and various departments in the implementation of projects that meets service and efficiency objectives while maintaining integrity of operations and risk management.
- Consistent monitoring and evaluation of the lending system, processes, and workflows, and initiates efficiency opportunities.
- Monitors the lending system credit score matrix to ensure safety and soundness of lending program.
- Assists team with daily operations, provides real-time support, and delegates based on department development needs.
- Actively communicates with and develops direct reports based on department and organization needs.
- Actively coaches direct reports and maintains development planning to meet department operation and strategic needs.
- Performs supervisory duties: interviews applicants; plans, assigns, directs, and evaluates team member's work; measures performance against goals; reviews efficiency and completeness of tasks; conducts performance reviews, recommends salary increases, and develops higher levels of expertise in team members through coaching, mentoring, and training.
- Actively participates in learning communities to stay abreast of the new lending processes, trends, and tools.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
- Maintains a working knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA); Anti-Money Laundering (AML); Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC), other consumer financial protection laws, and complies with all laws and regulations applicable to area of responsibility.
- Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary to achieve the goals of the department and the Credit Union.

The pay range for this position is listed below.
Starting pay for successful applicants is generally within the minimum to midpoint of the pay range. Our consideration for pay is designed to support career growth and development over time. Offers extended depend on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to individual experience, knowledge, training, education, geographic location, market demands, and internal equity.
Pay range:
Minimum: $123,875.56/annually | Midpoint: $154,844.44/annually | Maximum: $185,813.33/annually
