Job Objective:

Our Recruiting Assistant will facilitate our hiring process. In this role, you will support the HR department and the Officers/Managers at our Indiana locations with recruitment duties and ensure that all recruiting procedures run smoothly. The successful Recruiting Assistant will have excellent organizational and computer skills. Ultimately, a top-notch Recruiting Assistant has excellent communication skills and can foresee potential issues, solving them before they blossom into something larger.

What You Will Do:

  • Post Job Requisitions using our HRIS software
  • Assist with resume screening when appropriate
  • Communicate effectively with departments, administrators, and new hires regarding the new employee orientation process
  • Follow up with candidates during the recruitment process, emailing them step-by-step aids to assist with hiring tasks, walking them through steps via telephone, and processing out candidates who either do not meet the basic job requirements or who withdraw from the process
  • Ensure that all aids and instructions are up-to-date as system updates take place and/or processes change
  • Be a resource to Hiring Managers for using the HRIS software and navigating a candidate through the hiring process
  • Research networking opportunities and other creative avenues to increase candidate stream
  • Meaningfully contribute to improvement of Team's programs, policies, and procedures
  • Develop and maintain a candidate at-a-glance, progress report
  • Communicate effectively with the HR Team in order to ensure a smooth hiring process
  • Ensure that all onboarding documents, both electronic and paper, are completed and the employee personnel file is created and fully documented.
  • Assist with other HR processes as needed
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership

Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: Bachelor's degree in human resources or business preferred or a minimum of 1 year of experience as a recruiting assistant.

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: Prefer minimum 1 year experience in Recruiting, HRIS System and Customer Service experience.

Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment

Skills/Abilities:

  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele
  • Familiarity with hiring practices
  • Solid organizational and time management skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic human resources recruiting management systems

Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibilities

Physical Requirements Include:

  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
  • Lifting, pulling and pushing of materials up to 25 pounds
  • May require bending, squatting, walking
  • May require sitting or standing for extended periods

Travel: Travel will be required from time to time within Indiana

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical office environment. Must be able to work a schedule that falls between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM
