Position Summary:
We're searching for a Senior Model Based Systems Engineer to lead our team in San Luis Obispo, CA. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in guiding the development and utilization of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) techniques, focusing on tools like Cameo and Simulink, to design, prototype, integrate, and test Unmanned Systems and Munitions. This leadership position requires strategic thinking, collaboration across disciplines, and innovation across product lines.
Responsibilities:
Lead the definition and refinement of system requirements using MBSE methodologies.
Develop and oversee the creation and maintenance of system models using Cameo Systems Modeler and Simulink.
Guide the prototyping and development of system solutions.
Direct thorough subsystem and system testing processes.
Lead first article / pathfinder build initiatives.
Analyze complex data and troubleshoot advanced issues.
Lead design reviews and technical meetings.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive system integration.
Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians.
Drive strategic initiatives and contribute to the long-term vision of the engineering team.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of relevant experience in model-based systems engineering.
Proficiency in Cameo Systems Modeler and Simulink.
Extensive experience with unmanned systems, aircraft, and/or munitions.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Practical hands-on experience (e.g., design/build/fly, RC aircraft, pilot).
Experience integrating existing/COTS components into new systems.
Adaptability in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
A collaborative team player with a strategic mindset.
