The Role: Your efforts and ultimate successes should be measurable and recognizable as you strive daily within LCU's vision: "to value people over profit, proactively seek improvement, work passionately, exceed expectations, and make our community a better place". You will develop, manage, and maintain reliable accounting information and reporting on income, expenses, assets, and liabilities, for management planning and decision making, and for fulfillment of financial reporting. Daily duties include the posting of general ledger, journal entries and payables functions, analysis and settlement of all payments related transactions, to support all business activities of the credit union; along with periodic reconciliation of general ledgers, correspondent accounts, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, and end-of-period adjustments to support financial reporting.

What you will do:
  • Post and/or reconcile of general ledger accounts or journal entries
  • Post payment of accounts payables
  • Perform daily review and post settlement transaction accounts and adjustments thru correspondent banks and the Federal Reserve
  • Provide support of cash ordering through correspondent banks and the Federal Reserve
  • Reconcile Smart ATM activities
  • Periodically reconcile general ledger accounts and end-of-period adjustments or closing entries
  • Periodically analyze posting of accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation/amortization
  • Maintain and post fixed asset records
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements

Qualifications:
  • One to three years of accounting and payments experience in a credit union or other financial institution experience is strongly desired
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required (An Accounting degree is preferred)
  • Strong communications skills: courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job since the work involves contact with others inside and/or outside the department and/or credit union for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation
  • Ability to master various spreadsheet and data analysis tools, along with accounting software
  • Strong ability to provide critical analysis and problem solving daily
  • Commitment to LCU's Mission Statement and Core Values
  • Must successfully complete appropriate LCU assessments
