Position Overview

The AVP/Compliance is responsible for facilitating lending compliance solutions across the company's operational systems to enhance origination integrity while improving workflow efficiencies, quality, accuracy and uniformity of residential mortgage lending products and services. This role must have deep subject matter expertise in all federal and state mortgage lending laws. This role supervises the Compliance Team and reports to the VP/Legal Affairs & Compliance.

This position is hybrid with travel to the Stamford office required periodically.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Compliance Team
  • Oversee Fair Lending risk assessments, monitoring and testing
  • HMDA review and reporting
  • Federal and State Reporting
  • NMLS Quarterly Call Report filings
  • Review, draft and implement compliance policies and procedures
  • Manage the process of responding to external audits/examinations and respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies
  • Monitor emerging compliance issues/trends
  • Collaborate with the Quality Control Team to implement and test corrective actions related to internal and external audits
  • Assist Training Manager with developing and implementing employee training and communications related to compliance issues
  • Attend and report at Executive Committee meetings
  • Member of the Fair Lending Committee
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, education and experience required
  • Minimum eight to ten years of progressive mortgage compliance management experience
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, research, presentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, take initiative and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Supervisory/management experience required
  • Extensive experience with current mortgage related laws and regulations (e.g., TILA, RESPA, TRID, ECOA, FCRA, HMDA, HOEPA)
  • Experience with various loan products, including Non-QM
  • Experience with various lending channels such as Wholesale, Correspondent, Conduit and Retail
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to operate under demanding deadlines
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risk
  • Creative problem-solver with strong research and writing skills.
  • Robust data driven skills with the ability to analyze and report to management monthly
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel)
  • Experience with Encompass loan origination system strongly desired
  • JD from ABA approved law school, a plus
  • Mortgage Loan Quality Control experience, a plus

The salary range for this role is $100,00.00 to $125,000.00. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location.
