The Lead Product Development Engineer is the key functional team member leading projects through concept ideation, engineering development, and functional prototype units that pass the fit for use criteria. They will provide support to other innovation projects and other department teams (tooling, manufacturing, sales, marketing, etc.) to evaluate and recommend product changes to increase product performance or sales.RESPONSIBILITIESProduct development engineering of concepts into parts and assemblies for prototyping, analysis, and tooling design. Coordinate development activities through stages 2 (Design) and 3 (Development) as defined by the Product Development Process. Provide leadership and communicate with internal and external customers as required in project meetings and discussions.Work with design, consumer insights, sales and marketing to ideate concepts and provide our customers with technical support on new product solutions.As required, obtain or perform engineering analysis on part and assembly designs using FEA, CFD and Moldflow, as required. Provide reports and data necessary for evaluation/clarification, internal/external presentations and cost analysis (tooling, assembly and operations).Participate in other innovation project meetings to provide opinions and recommendations on product design concepts and problem solving scenarios.Attend training to increase personal capabilities in CAD/CAE software use, new design technologies, and personal growth opportunities as available.Other duties may be assigned.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEEducation level: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or Plastics Technology from a four-year college or university.Experience level: 5-8 years related experience and/or training in product development of multiple component plastic assemblies (e.g. consumer products, medical equipment, etc.).Equivalent combination of education and experience.Hands-on daily use of CAE/CAD (3D solid modeling) and experience with drafting techniques for creation, revision and checking, previous use of Siemens NX is a plus.Experience in plastic injection molding part design and product development for high volume consumer products a plus.Experience in directly interfacing with external customer organizations for new product or package solutions a plus.Experience in the use of CAE applications for FEA (non-linear structural, injection molding, fluid flow) is a plus.Experience in daily use of Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project), and use of the internet for research and technology suppliers.Use of project management methods and tools.Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and projects.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Willingness for occasional travel, including internationally depending on the projectLIMITATIONS AND DISCLAIMERThe above job description is meant to describe the general nature and level of work being performed; it is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required for the position.All job requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.
