SUMMARY The Director of Research and Program Development collaborates with the executive leadership team to provide clinical leadership, direction, and support across Vista programs. Collaborates with executive leadership to determine organization-wide metrics and systems of analysis for internal treatment quality. Ensures high quality and ethical services are provided and supported within the delivery of services across the organization. Develops and oversees operational and clinical components of IBHS or other funded intensive behavioral services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Administrative/Operational

Leadership Works collaboratively with Executive Leadership team to develop strategic goals and to develop and implement plans to achieve the organization’s goals. Collaborates with the Executive Director of Clinical Programs to create and maintain a model of treatment for clients with intensive behavioral needs across EIBS and intensive behavioral support programs. Collaborates with Executive Leadership and Human Resources to coordinate recruitment and retention of quality behavior analytic staff. Participates in annual licensing audits, prepares needed documents, provides information to licensing representatives, and actively participates in corrective plans of action for citations. Addresses and manages employee performance issues, disciplinary issues, and training deficiencies for program staff. May serve as the initial program manager for new services until the program growth allows for hiring of program specific leadership.

Clinical Leadership Develops and negotiates service description and contracts with funders to establish and maintain new clinical programs and program models for client treatment. Works collaboratively with managed care organizations (MCOs), insurance companies, school districts, and other payors or partners in order to ensure consistency in treatment provision, meeting regulatory requirements, and ensuring adequate ongoing support (including financial compensation) for all new services. Develop the clinical model and processes of the program(s) ensuring that clinical practices align with Applied Behavior Analytic approaches and adhere to a science and evidence-based methodology. Develop training and supervision model and processes to ensure professional development as well as maintaining the standard of treatment necessary for safety and quality client outcomes. Provide ongoing specialized supervision to program Board-certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) as well as Assistant Behavior Analysts within the program. Support organizational leaders in promoting systematic methods for changing or maintaining staff behavior to promote clinical quality and the adherence to job-specific expectations. Develops and disseminates program and organization wide message as related to clinical updates, to both staff and stakeholders. Coordinate client assessment, intervention, and all other aspects of treatment with Vista program leadership, clinical consultants, and outside stakeholders. Review scientific literature regularly and translate research into behavior analytic practice within

training/supervision

of staff, ongoing safety procedures assessment of client behavior, treatment implementation, data-based decision making, and overall functioning of the program. Research Leadership Oversees the legal, ethical, and safe implementation of research within the organization, including oversight of research review for approval. Coordinates with outside stakeholders engaging in research that may involve Vista staff and/or clients. Develops and maintains training standards for staff involved in conducting research. Presents research findings internally and in the community at conferences or other venues to represent Vista and disseminate research findings within the ABA field. Coordinates internal treatment quality data and reports to the Executive Leadership team as well as the Board of Directors Recommends best practices based on internal treatment quality data as well as research within Vista and the larger ABA field in order to promote safe, high-quality, and effective treatment across all Vista programs. Additional Leadership Represents the organization at community events, including work groups, focus groups, exhibits, and conferences, meets with external parties interested in learning about or receiving services from Vista, and maintains positive stakeholder relationships. Maintains understanding and competency of core implementation, intervention, principles, and practices that form the foundation of Vista’s programs. Participates on Vista’s Human Rights team. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY The Director of Research and Program Development may supervise BCBAs within any new program. As the programs develop and growth can sustain, internal leadership would be hired to replace oversight by the Director of Research and Program Development. The Director of Research and Program Development will oversee staff within the Research Department. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following positions or frequent movements are typical of the job: sitting, standing, bending, lifting, typing, walking, or moving throughout the office, often for extended periods of the workday. Assignments may require the ability to physically move clients during possible physical interventions to maintain a safe learning environment. The position requires that an individual be able to learn new tasks quickly and effectively. Job requirements may change frequently. The ability to understand and carry out detailed, involved, instructions is mandatory. The incumbent must be able to travel to multiple locations as needed, when needed to conduct organizational business. Subject to inside environmental conditions EXPECTED SCHEDULE This is a full time minimum 40 hour per week position. Days and hours of the workweek are Monday through Friday as agreed upon by management and administrative calendar. The ability to be reached off-hours, when necessary, is expected.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Doctorate degree in Applied Behavior Analysis or equivalent required Board-certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral-Level (BCBA-D) required Behavior Specialist License required Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience required Successful completion of crisis intervention training Minimum 5-7 years of knowledge and previous experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders required

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Knowledge and experience of non-profit organizational management highly desired High proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Internet applications required Ability to work efficiently and with a service-oriented attitude with frequent interruptions Demonstrates strong leadership abilities and organizational skills Effectively manages multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines Problem solves in a positive manner to analyze issues and create action plans Demonstrates flexibility, receptiveness to change, tactfulness, patience, and courtesy
