Description: Controls Design EngineerControl System Design (Design, develop, and implement electrical control systems for new and existing equipmentCreate detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts using CAD softwareSelect appropriate hardware and software components to meet project specifications and performance criteriaProgramming and Software Development: Develop and program PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and other control devices Write and test software code to ensure reliable and efficient operation of control systems Troubleshoot and debug control system software and hardwareProject Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, project managers, and production staff to ensure successful project completionManage project timelines, budgets, and resources to deliver projects on time and within budgetProvide technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from concept to commissioningTesting and Validation: Conduct system testing and validation to ensure control systems meet performance, safety, and reliability standardsPerform on-site commissioning and startup of control systems at customer locations as neededDocument test results, system configurations, and modificationsContinuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance system performance and efficiencyStay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in electrical control systems and automationCompliance and Safety:Ensure all control systems comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulationsAdhere to company safety policies and procedures, promoting a culture of safety within the workplaceSkills:AutoCAD, PLC Programming, Control System Design, SiemensAdditional Skills & Qualifications:MUST HAVE:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field3+ years of Controls Engineering experience (outside of schooling) Proven experience in designing and developing electrical control systems in either AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen Bradley or Siemens) and HMI development; ability to program from scratch Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., NEC, IEC).Strong communication and interpersonal skills both in person and over the phone; ability to work directly with customers Experience with motion control and industrial networks (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus)PLUS: Experience working with an OEM or systems integrator Experience with fluid power systems (hydraulic and pneumatic)Experience with welding processesSiemens Step7, TIA Portal FactoryTalk Steel, injection molding, or OEM controls industry experienceAbout Actalent Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
