We have partnered with our client in their search for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Engineer to lead the development of a cutting-edge data and business intelligence (BI) platform. This role involves building a cloud data warehouse from the ground up, implementing robust ETL processes, and delivering enterprise-level reporting and analytics across multiple business functions within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced setting, effectively manage both onsite and offshore teams, and drive the delivery of data solutions that enhance decision-making and operational efficiency across the company.

Responsibilities
  • Data Integration and Pipeline Development: Design and build scalable data pipelines using tools like Fivetran, dbt Cloud, Python, PySpark, and Airflow to integrate data from diverse sources including Sales, Finance, Planning, Manufacturing, and Factory applications into a Snowflake data warehouse.
  • Collaboration and Requirements Gathering: Work closely with stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to gather and analyze data requirements, ensuring that the BI solutions align with business needs.
  • Data Modeling and Warehousing: Develop and maintain robust data models using Kimball or Data Vault methodologies to support data warehousing and analytical needs.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Create and manage Power BI reports and dashboards, providing actionable insights to business users and supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Quality Assurance and Testing: Collaborate with IT and business users to test data pipelines and reporting solutions, ensuring accuracy and performance meet or exceed standards.
  • DevOps and Code Management: Establish and maintain a DevOps framework within Azure to manage code deployment across environments and ensure continuous integration and delivery.
  • Production Support and Maintenance: Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, optimize performance, and provide ongoing maintenance and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers and manage both onsite and offshore consulting teams to ensure high-quality deliverables and adherence to project timelines.
Skills Required
  • Expertise in cloud data platforms like Snowflake, and hands-on experience with batch and real-time data ingestion. Familiarity with data modeling, ETL tools (Fivetran, dbt, Airflow), and Power BI.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects, including coordination with offshore teams. Experience in setting up and managing DevOps practices is highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in environments with varying degrees of ambiguity in requirements.
  • Experience with user administration in Power BI and understanding of PLC data in manufacturing facilities are significant pluses.
  • A demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and changing business requirements.
Education& WorkExperience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of data engineering and business intelligence experience, with at least 5 years in building data pipelines into Azure Data Lake and Snowflake. Additional 3-5 years of experience in programming with Python for data pipeline development.
