The Institutional Effectiveness (IE) department at Harford Community College is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist. This exempt, professional staff position supports departments and activities across the College through applied research and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as an internal consultant to develop solutions for research requests.
Oversee processes for internal and external reporting, including state and federal requirements.
Maintain high ethical standards in research practices and privacy protections, adhering to laws such as FERPA.
Program business intelligence reports and design surveys.
Develop research designs to evaluate operational changes.
Acquire data from various internal and external sources.
Provide statistical analysis and create reports and presentations.
Assist with external reporting, including IPEDS and state submissions.
Serve as a research and data expert on college committees.
Train end-users to locate and use IE data resources.
Engage in collaborative problem solving and suggest improvements.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to use descriptive and inferential statistics to analyze data using tools such as SPSS, SAS, Excel, R, etc.
Experience with business intelligence reporting and survey design using Tableau, Argos, etc.
Ability to maintain high ethical standards and privacy protections in research.
1 year of related experience is required, including statistical research and data extraction and analysis, and creating reports and presentations.
Must be a resident of Maryland or the contiguous states (Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia) or willing to relocate.
Physical presence on campus is required.
