ACQUISITION ANALYST COMPANY PROFILE Barvin is a privately held commercial real estate investment and development firm located in Houston, Texas, owned by Houston-based entrepreneur Eric Barvin. Our commercial real estate platform serves as asset manager of a portfolio of multi-family properties totaling over 4,500 units in Texas and Georgia. Barvin also has a property management and construction management division, and in 2019, it began ground-up development. POSITION DESCRIPTION Barvin is seeking a highly motivated Acquisitions Analyst to initiate and undertake underwriting, market research, data collection/analysis, and preparation of investment memoranda to assist and facilitate the growth of Barvin’s real estate portfolio. This role will report directly to the Director of Acquisitions and work closely with the Due Diligence Associate. The Acquisitions Analyst will be responsible for assisting the acquisitions team throughout the investment process from initial identification through closing. LOCATION Houston, Texas TIMING Immediate EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES Underwrite potential multifamily real estate investment opportunities based on previously collected financial and market data and research. Be responsible for creating and maintaining market research and competitive analyses in various geographic markets and submarkets across the United States and at the deal level. Data types include but are not limited to financials (operating statements, rent rolls), rental comps, sales comps, loan data (rate, terms, etc.), deal database, demographics, economic (macro & micro), statistical comparison, etc. Prepare detailed written investment memoranda synthesizing due diligence findings, demographic and economic data collection, financial model outputs, market trends, and investment recommendations/business plans for the purposes of facilitating Barvin’s equity investment processes. Organize, attend, and document internal and external acquisition, acquisitions team meetings, etc. Assisted in scheduling and managing deliverables, shepherding information exchange, etc., from internal and external stakeholders. Assist in creating, issuing, communicating, and executing various acquisition documents. Gather and present all needed information for the acquisitions team to make an informed decision. Achieve specified results in a structured, technical environment, and clearly communicate expectations. Assist in ad-hoc research, analysis, modeling, and reporting on an as-needed basis. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Professional degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, or real estate WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 2+ years’ experience in underwriting, data analysis, and manipulation, portfolio analysis, etc. Thorough understanding of the acquisition process for the residential multifamily product type.
