The Chief Estimator oversees and is directly responsible for all aspects of the estimating/project management department within the designated area. This individual will cultivate a culture of integrity and excellence, fostering strong relationships with customers and assisting with guiding project teams to success. Duties and Responsibilities: General Manage and lead the estimating/project management department by following our core values (Travel Together, Act with Integrity and Respect, Build Safely and Sustainably, Innovate for Tomorrow, and Lead Professionally) Accountable for all aspects of estimating/project management. Assess project performance and provide guidance to staff. Create and track market share within the area and report on findings. Train, coach, and mentor all personnel as needed. Financial Management Monitors daily, weekly, and monthly costs using HeavyJob and JDE cost reports. Reviews cost reports with the team to understand variances. Ability to accurately review project cost to completes for submittal to WCC Accounting. Estimation Management Procure bid packages to bid and/or assign to estimators Review and approve all estimates that go out. Negotiate, review and approve contracts, purchase orders, and change orders. Foster strong relationships with customers. Evaluate market conditions, including the capabilities of the markets competitors. Develop and maintain bidding strategies and processes. Project Management Review and approve monthly estimates and invoices. Management of accounts receivable Review and edit all monthly job cost reports Management of the project cost throughout the project duration to ensure budget and schedule is met. Enforce contractual responsibilities and resolve disputes that may arise. Ensure smooth task coordination between customers, project managers, and support staff. Management of job closeout processes Experience: 5-10 years of experience in estimating/project management in the construction sector. Demonstrated knowledge of computer skills, takeoff software, pricing software, project management, and construction practices. Strong leadership and communication skills. Work Schedule: Requires Days, Evening, Nights, & Weekend work as required. Consistent availability to take phone calls and respond to messages is essential. Infrequent overnight travel. Complexity of Duties: Involves highly technical projects with broad conceptual judgment and initiative. Contacts with Others: Involves influencing others and dealing with clients. Confidential Data: Regularly handles confidential data crucial to the companys competitive position. Physical Demands: Occasional lifting and exertion of force, with physical activities such as climbing, stooping, and walking. Working Conditions: General office conditions with occasional exposure to noise, heat, dust, and other elements. Scope of Supervision: Supervises 4-6 employees.
