The Regional Medical Director (RMD) will work in a dyad relationship with the Regional Operations Manager (ROM) to lead and develop a pediatric urgent care team to achieve the organization's mission and strategic goals.They will ensure that everyone across the region understands and integrates our core values- integrity, treating patients like friends of the family, respect and trust for colleagues/employees, always looking to improve, be cost efficient, and have fun.DescriptionCARE QUALITY Oversee your medical director staff. You are responsible for mentoring and supporting the medical directors and their supervision of provider staff.Monitor the clinical and operational performance of every location in your region. Review site data and create action plans with medical directors as needed. Track key data points such as hourly arrivals, customer satisfaction scores, throughput, resource utilization. Monitor regional supply utilization, lab testing, etc. Identify and counsel outliers.Assure consistent practice. Verify all locations in your region are following consistent use of regional and PMP standards for lab reconciliation, daily checklists, team huddles, equipment use, and procedural care.Track all safety reports and work with sites to implement action plans as needed.Provide consultation as needed for medical directors.STAFFING & HR MANAGEMENT You are primarily responsible for recruiting and hiring salaried providers for your region. Work with your Vice President of Clinical Operations (VPCO) to determine needs based on growth and attrition. Balance all types of candidates based on skill level, training needs, and office staffing needs.Work with your medical directors to build per-diem staff.Work with medical directors and provider education team to implement consistent practices for provider onboarding/orientation.Develop solutions for staffing crises. Work with the Regional Operations Manager (ROMs) to balance and assist when shortages are on ancillary-side.Coordinate regional schedule. Take responsibility for regional challenges and staff sharing. Develop systems to balance coverage and to limit PTO over core-holiday periods.Approve PTO for Medical Directors and work with other medical directors to cover sites as needed when leaders are away.Develop regional systems to ensure adequate staffing while balancing the needs of the office and financial/budget priorities.PROFESSIONAL OUTREACH Work with medical directors to develop CME events, workshops, and other regional educational offerings.Work with medical directors to best communicate with large pediatric practices that span across several counties/areas.OWNERSHIP / OVERSIGHT It is the responsibility of the RMD to assume medical directorship of either new locations or locations devoid of medical directors.GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT Identify targets for expansion to grow/balance a region or develop a new adjacent region.Work with the VPCO to explore regional acquisition and partnership opportunities to help expand the business.Consider service-line extensions, sub-leasing, and other revenue-generating options to expand regional business without adding physical presence.Work with medical directors to identify opportunities to grow existing sites.COMMUNITY OUTREACH / MARKETING Assist the marketing team using geographic trends and location performance to help target regional needs where a marketing boost may be impactful.Provide feedback on marketing efforts and social media campaigns.CREATIVITY Work with medical directors to develop new initiatives, pilot programs, and other service extensions that are consistent with our core values and add value to the region and to make the region successful.ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE You set the tone and are responsible for ensuring consistency across all locations in the region.CUSTOMER SERVICE Review weekly surveys, identify concerning trends and work with medical directors and Office Managers to develop action plans. Monitor patient experience reports.EDUCATION / SUPPORT Work with education team to coordinate educational efforts.Ensure providers are participating in lectures and staying abreast with guidelines.Mentor and develop providers for succession planning and remediation.MEETINGS Run regional medical leadership meetings with the VPCO and ROM.Attend regional meetings, workshops, simulation sessions, and education forums.Attend national meetings with other RMDs.Periodically attend individual site/pod staff meetings and other meetings to ensure the operational and cultural success of your region.COMPENSATION Regional Medical Directors receive a base salary composed of an administrative stipend and clinical wage.An administrative stipend is distributed across the year for the oversight of locations across the region. The amount of this stipend is independent of the leadership metrics and volume of the locations.The clinical salary is a function of clinical hours and clinical wage. The RMD can set their own clinical hours and this can vary as the needs of the region fluctuate.Additional stipends may be awarded for other administrative roles with the company.Additional compensation may be awarded based on company performance.Bonuses will be awarded as a function of both individual and location performance.QualificationsGraduate of an accredited ACGME/AOA in Pediatric or IM-Peds residency training program.BC/BE with the ABP or ABEM/AOBEMLicensed in the state where the site(s) is locatedAbility to obtain and maintain DEA certificationMeet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.Good computer and electronic record skills.Excellent managerial and organizational skills.Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical pediatric urgent care/ER practice that demonstrates success in quality, clinical variation, practice management, and patient experience.Minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership roles within a pediatric, urgent care, or emergency departmentAdditional Qualifications:Collaborative work styleAbility to serve as a diplomat/ mentor with strong leadership presenceStrong communication skills, including written and verbalAbility to lead and manage broad-based change and developmentStrong interpersonal and team/group dynamic skills.
