Metrc is the most trusted and experienced provider of cannabis regulatory systems in the United States and is growing extremely rapidly to expand globally. We provide a solution that combines advanced software, radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology, a dedicated customer-support team, and a secure database to track and trace cannabis from growth, harvest, and processing to testing, transport, and sale. As Staff Accountant, you will have the opportunity to thrive in a fast-moving, fluid environment, and be passionate about implementing change, great processes, and procedures in a commercial setting at a fast-growing technology company.
GENERAL OVERVIEW
This position is primarily responsible for applying principles of accounting to maintain and analyze financial records while ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded by performing the following duties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Embody Metrc's Leadership Principles
- Perform general accounting duties, including month-end closing.
- Review, prepare and maintain standard accounting journal entries, including both recurring and ad-hoc entries.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Perform month-end general ledger research and variance analysis.
- Support annual audit process by gathering necessary support documents.
- Perform special projects as determined by management.

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Exceptional time management, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proven organizational skills and the ability to maintain precise records.
- Current familiarity with common accounting software and spreadsheet tools, such as Excel. Experience with NetSuite is highly preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to communicate complex ideas and business concepts in accessible terms. Able to exercise excellent professional judgment.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Can work independently and without supervision when required.
- Must be able to work on-site in Lakeland, FL
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Hybrid - In office 3 days/week and 2 days remote
- Frequently required to sit
- Frequently required to talk or hear
- Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard and mouse.
