SUMMARY: Keeps premises of school building in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Building and Grounds or the Superintendent. Cleans and polishes lighting and wall fixtures, wood and/or other surfaces and trim. Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, libraries, cafeterias, auditoriums, gymnasiums, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways and locker rooms and other work areas. Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and polishes floor. Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies. Dusts furniture and equipment. Polishes metalwork. Washes walls, ceiling and woodwork. Washes windows, door panels and sills. Empties wastebaskets and waste containers. Transports trash and waste to disposal area. Replenishes bathroom supplies. Replaces light bulbs. Delivers packages and materials. Transports equipment or tools throughout the building. Sets up equipment, tables and chairs where needed. Maintains building security at all times. Maintains current knowledge in those areas related to the performance of job duties, including matters dealing with safety regulations and procedures and hazardous materials. Performs all duties as assigned by the District's Administration.

SPECIFIC USER-DEFINED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Exhibits an ability to get along well with staff, students and public. 2. Exhibits a work ethic based on self-initiative and/or incentive and a high level of satisfaction in accomplishment of the task at hand. 3. Recognizes the need to place the welfare and safety of the students and staff served at a high priority in the conduct of the job. Observes proper safety procedures and use of safety equipment relative to the performance of the job. 4. Able to use and maintain the necessary equipment to provide for the upkeep and care of the building and grounds surrounding the building to which he/she may be assigned, e.g., scrubbers, vacuums, polishers. 5. Possesses the knowledge to utilize and maintain the proper equipment to ensure completion of housecleaning assignments, to include cleaning of all areas of the building, the proper use of cleansers, disinfectants, removers, strippers, surface sealants, waxes and other similar products. 6. Able to lift materials and move equipment required to carrying out assigned job duties.
