Position: Controller

Position Summary: this manufacturing-based Controller will provide financial and business leadership for a growing $10mm company. This hands-on position will be responsible for all financial functions for the company. Another key criterion is being comfortable in a small company environment with multiple roles.
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Financial Accounting Leadership
  • Manage the details of all general ledger accounts, sub-ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. Responsible for "closing the books;" making appropriate journal entries; monitoring inventory levels & transactions; standard costs; etc.
  • Prepare timely monthly financial statements.
  • Perform month-end and year end close processes.
  • Participate in year-end review with outside accountants.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Assure company compliance with Federal, State, and local legal requirements.
  • Create annual and three-year budgets along with maintaining general ledger accounts to support comparative monthly and annual reporting. Supports and guides organization in achieving positive results to plans.
  • With sales and operation teams, develop sales and operating expense forecasts. Generate and analyze monthly reports comparing actual results to forecast and budget.
  • Provide insight and potential direction for key shortfalls to budget along with identifying opportunities for exceeding budget plans. Provides data to support and evaluate capital expenditures.
  • Directs staff to support the financial aspects of running the company. Works directly with CM Paula on cash management and other selected areas.
  • Operations Accounting Leadership
  • Master all customer orders, shipment, billing, and payment cycle flow. Develop direct skills to perform and backup all tasks effectively.
  • Master all accounts payable and payment cycle flow. Develop hands-on skills to perform all tasks effectively.
  • Master all inventory cycle flow and work with Production and Purchasing team members to manage all inventory costing and variance analysis.
  • Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for proper analysis and reporting.
  • Manages the ERP system and any upgrades.
  • Effectively work with Corporate on many HR benefit cost and financial elements that impact company's financials.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Experience and Educational Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a BA Accounting. Audit experience helpful, but not required.
  • Minimum of four years of financial experience in a manufacturing environment with "hands-on" ERP system knowledge and expertise.
  • Solid experience with budget development and analysis; accounts payable and receivable; general ledger; reconciliations and month/year-end close processes; reporting to various regulatory groups.
  • Comfortable in a small company environment with multiple roles.
  • CPA or CMA a plus
  • Experience with various manufacturing software. Macola, Pulse and job costing a plus
