- Midway Products is a Tier 1 automotive supplier of stampings and assemblies to numerous automotive OEMs and suppliers including: Toyota, Ford, GM, Chrysler, Nissan, Mazda, Volkswagen, and Tesla. The Quality & Reliability Engineer-Corporate will support all plants and Corporate engineering in solving complex problems. The individual will have expertise in 8D and other problem-solving methods, and the ability to coach others. This individual will also share responsibility for data mining of customer warranty systems.
- Support Midway plants and corporate engineering in solving complex problems.
- Coaches and mentors plant quality engineers in problem solving helping to enhance the Midway problem- solving culture.
- Leads/engages in higher escalated customer quality concerns where necessary, working closely with customers and suppliers as necessary.
- Able to step in and assist when individual plants need temporary additional support within the quality functionsupporting individual plant Quality Managers.
- Assist in the implementation of best practices across the plants as well as implementation of new corporate and plant quality policies and procedures.
- Develop and provide support for weld test procedures to Midway facilities.
- Monitor, analyze, and report customer warranty data.
- Work with Product Engineering to determine warranty reduction and prevention goals.
- Develop and administer reliability information systems for failure analysis, design and process performance improvement.
- Assist in the development and review of DFMEAs, DVP&Rs and PFMEAs.
- Participate in APQP activities at the corporate levels and provide technical feedback to reduce potential product problems during design and launch.
- Interface with customers and suppliers on new product launch and problem situations, as required.
- Review and analyze laboratory product test and inspection results as appropriate.
- Recommend product and process improvements to reduce costs and/or improve quality.
- Provide plant support with product testing recommendations to verify ongoing process capability.
- Perform other essential functions as required.
- Four-year technical college degree. Graduate degree and/or ASQ RE preferred.
- Five years automotive reliability, warranty and/or quality experience.
- Working knowledge of applying statistical methods and reliability theory to industrial situations.
- Computer literate
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent technical report writing skills.
- Understand basic blueprint reading, part tolerance, GD&T, and application of Customer Engineering Specifications.
- Normal office environment
- Normal laboratory and testing environments, which includes the use of personal protection equipment; hazards and conditions typically associated with lab and testing environments.
- Normal shop environment, which includes travel to plant sites; use of personal protection equipment; hazards and conditions typically associated with a manufacturing environment.
