We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Loan Services Manager to lead our team. Primary responsibilities include the management of impaired loans while protecting the assets of the credit union. This would consist of making sound decisions and provides excellent service to all members and employees. Provide recommendation to improve efficiencies and improve the asset quality of the loan portfolio. Provides direction and coaching to the department as needed. Keep up with regulations in collections, real estate, DMV, and quality control. Supervises staff and overall department functions in the absence of the Director of Loan Services.

Essential Functions

  • Actively promote a positive work environment and encourage open communication within the department and the Credit Union.
  • Embraces and champions change with a positive approach and mindset.
  • Maintains a general knowledge of the financial marketplace (collections and market condition).
  • Train employees on Loan Services policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Manager in maintaining current policies/procedures and recommends appropriate enhancements to improve Loan Services operations.
  • Proactively recommends changes to procedures, efficiencies, and process improvements within the department or for the organization.
  • Oversees all aspects of the Loan Services department in the absence of the department Loan Services Director.
  • Brings to the Director of Loan Services attention, upon discovery, any loan exceptions, which jeopardize asset quality, or any complications.
  • Serves on committees that drive organizational initiatives.
  • Ensures the department adheres to all loan policies and regulations.
  • Must strive to reach all annual goals provided by the Director of Loan Services.
  • Understands all security protocols within the Credit Union and maintains working knowledge of compliance/regulations within area of responsibility.
  • Upkeep of any reports assigned by the Director of Loan Services.
  • Contacts various vendors and other recovery companies to reduce delinquency and increase recoveries.
  • Reviews collection efforts (phone, calls, letters, skip tracing, etc.) to ensure maximum efforts are utilized to resolve accounts.
  • Reviews monthly Delinquency Report, including the delinquency of 1st Trust Deeds and Participation loans for management review.
  • Prepares repossession worksheets for the monthly charge-off Board Reports for review and recommendation to the Board of Directors.
  • Prepares the Loans with Collateral in Liquidation monthly report, including repossessions for management review.
  • Monitors the progression of goals and expectations for the department.
  • Assists as a backup to the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act reporting.
  • Monitors the current Delinquency and Charge-off ratios.
  • Collects on charged off loans.
  • Complies with BSA and OFAC regulations within area of responsibility.
  • Complies with regulations within area of responsibility.
  • Complies with federal fair lending laws, including the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) and the Fair Housing Act.
  • Prepare and analysis various reports to improve or enhance asset quality.
Qualifications
  • Three to five years of previous leadership experience.
  • Excellent written, and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective coaching skills.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment.
  • Must be a positive role model for staff and demonstrate a high level of commitment to the organization.
  • Working knowledge of market conditions, including knowledge of asset quality management.
  • Three to five years of working experience in asset quality and HMDA compliance experience.
  • Knowledge of collection practices and regulations.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Familiar with consumer credit lending and variable interest rates.
  • Knowledge of basic bankruptcy concepts, including codes chapter 7 & 13.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • High commitment for reaching individual, team, and organizational goals.
  • Working knowledge of DMV processes.
