Maintenance Technician II The Maintenance Technician II maintains plant equipment through work orders and preventative maintenance procedures. Successful performance includes proper care, maintenance, and troubleshooting of machines and equipment to reduce downtime and improve performance. Tech IIs provide close coordination of work with plant personnel, vendors, and contractors while also providing assistance to Tech IIIs and working directly with Tech I positions. This position works 6pm-6am on a 2/2/3 rotation. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, assists in rebuilds, and improvements in all process and packaging systems, equipment, and all related components. Maintains, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs control systems utilizing required test equipment, technical support documents and materials when needed and completes scheduled preventive maintenance on all process and packaging equipment. Assists others on process improvements and corrections either through adjustments, modifications, or design changes. Assists with maintenance projects and installations related to line specific equipment and infrastructure. Initiates, completes, and communicates work orders to plant and maintenance personnel and completes all required documentation. Maintains, adjusts, troubleshoots, calibrates, and repairs all electronic components of motor control systems, and electronic instrumentation. Works with PLCs, frequency drives or controllers when needed. Fabricates repair parts or components utilizing machine shop equipment. Performs fabrication and sanitary welding to repair equipment, and structural components according to food grade standards. Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed parts and supplies, and placing and expediting orders in conjunction with Maintenance Support Specialist. Maintains a clean work area, both in the maintenance shop and while completing work in food processing plants. Complies with all company Safety, HACCP and GMP policies. Immediately reports any food safety or quality issues to management or other individual authorized to initiate action. Other Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Knowledge of maintenance software including: Wonder Ware, Ladder Logic and Allen Bradley software. Technical skills: Industrial maintenance expertise in one or more disciplines (electrical, Millwright, or machine repair maintenance) with a solid knowledge base in pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, mechanical, and drive components. Experience and knowledge of sanitary fabrication and welding techniques. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Ability and application of math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to use trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and applying units of weight measurement and counts, ratios, proportions, percentages. Ability to read, interpret work related documents and blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, procedural diagrams, wiring diagrams, layouts, and ladder logic and carry out work instructions. Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively, cross functionally, and in a way that other Team Members will understand. Takes responsibility for actions, results, and errors. Understands concepts of Root Cause Analysis and can combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions or apply general rules to specific problems. Has ability to focus on benefits of change and see it as positive. Approaches change or newness in constructive/objective manner. Is thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks; demonstrates honesty and integrity in all aspects of work. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Drivers license required for using company vehicles. Must maintain a clean riving record in order to remain insurable under the companys insurance policy. Journeyman license holder in Electrician or Millwright. The Team Member is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; working in coolers at temperatures of 40-45 degrees; extreme heat in areas such as the boiler room; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Tool & Equipment Used While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member may be required to work with hand power tools, welders, cutting torches, presses, lathes, milling machines, grinders, calculator, measuring and calibrating tools, electrical test instruments, mechanical test instruments, motorized pallet trucks, and assorted hand tools. PPEs Required Personal protective equipment that is required when working with hazardous materials or loud equipment includes: safety goggles, rubber or latex gloves, lab coat and hearing protection. Other recommended PPE includes: face shield, chemical resistant apron and steel toe shoes. See Chemical Hygiene Plan for details. Other Experience And Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or experience: 3-5 years experience in maintenance or related field with training certifications in the areas of the trades or enrolled and pursuing a Maintenance Apprenticeship or Electro-Mech degree. Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, is required. Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Hmong or Trilingual in English/Hmong/Spanish is preferred but not required.
