The Business Office Director provides clerical and financial systems and oversees financial areas, which include Accounts Payable, Patient Accounts, Medical Records, and all areas that involve financial information for the facilities business operations.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Updates job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks. and participating in professional organizations.
  • Accomplishes finance and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Identify cost effective methods and new service opportunities for department and organization wide operations.
  • Maintains accounts payable, accounts receivable and the Community Benefit Program.
  • Monitors employee housing invoices and receivables.
  • Supervises receipt of all income and preparation/delivery of bank deposits and bank account reconciliation.
  • Administers General Ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Administers petty cash funds.
  • Collects and maintains Statistics.
  • Processes Credit Balances on patient accounts.
  • Maintains records required by licensing agencies, including annual financial audit, Medicare Cost Report support, tax exempt compliance, sales tax calculations. IRS requirements and submission and loan agreement reporting.
  • Administers 340B processes.
  • Supervises submission of patient account claims to third party payers and billing compliance.
  • Prepares reports, as required by administrator or governing boards, including multi-state benchmarking, workers compensation insurance premium audit and monthly financial reports.
  • Contact for several Federal portals.
  • Supervisors Medicare Compliance with needed forms completed and revalidations.
  • Supervise telephone and counter reception and business office staff.
  • Maintains inventories of various office supplies/forms.
  • Participate in monthly QAPI meetings and patient care meetings as needed.
  • Presents financial reports to Board of Directors, Medical Staff and Department Managers.
  • Availability to function as Board of Directors Secretary (appointed position).
  • Acts in a professional manner and positively represents Philip Health Services, Inc. and pursues opportunities for personal growth.
  • Participate in leadership development process as defined by the Administrator.
  • Assists in the training, orientation, and supervision of newly hired business office staff.

Education/Experience/Licensing
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in accounting and fiscal management practices.
  • Experience in a senior management position.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent experience required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills.

  • Physical demands, strength rating:
    • Light Work- Exerting up to twenty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly, Prolonged periods of sitting are required.
  • Finger Dexterity and Repetitive Motion:
    • Typing/keying comprises a significant amount of work function for this position-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, or fingers.
  • Vision and Hearing:
    • Corrected vision and hearing within a normal range to observe and communicate with patients and professional staff.
