JOIN US AS A BULK BUYER
We are looking for an energetic, experienced, and customer service-oriented Bulk Buyer with keen attention to detail for our Germantown location. This is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position working an estimated 30-34 hours per week. Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends, is required. The Bulk Buyer is responsible for supporting the Grocery Manager to ensure the successful day-to-day operations of the bulk section by maintaining a current and competitive selection of products, assisting in the development of new processes, and sharing your industry knowledge with staff and customers alike.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Research, purchase, price, display, account for, and otherwise find and sell products in line with our standards and which will achieve sales, margin, and member and shopper satisfaction goals.
- Find trustworthy vendors and maintain good relationships.
- Communicate with shoppers regarding the use and value of products and vendors and ingredients. Ensure department is merchandised in accordance with the needs of the community; maintain shelf allocations to ensure the availability of products at all times.
- Train staff in relation to ordering and stocking bulk set and on bulk item knowledge and usage
- Ensure money allocated within the departmental budget is spent as appropriate and as planned for purchases, payroll, and expenses related to operating the department.
- Manage product handling, ordering, receiving, inventory levels, category management, and pricing so as to achieve sales, cost, income and other goals as set by management.
- Implement promotional programs, merchandising and pricing plans in coordination with the Weavers Way Co-op Marketing Department.
- Become familiar with co-op policies and products in order to answer customer questions.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends, is required.
- Prior retail experience as a buyer, with bulk experience strongly preferred
- Great customer service skills, including in conflict resolution
- Continually evolving knowledge of industry trends and forecasting
- Strong communication skills with supervisors, staff, and members
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and remain calm under stress
- Detail oriented, including maintaining records and following procedures
- The ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for extended periods of time
- Be, or become upon hiring, a member in good standing of Weavers Way Co-op
