Job Description:

  • As a client Data Center Technician, you are a primary resolver for your support team, skilled at troubleshooting and resolving most complex hardware infrastructure issues.
  • You create and maintain documentation on technologies you support and are able to effectively pass down knowledge of these technologies to junior staff.
  • You have basic to intermediate system administration skills and, where applicable, are able to take on remote system administration tasks working in a virtual team.
  • You have the ability to automate tasks with scripts when necessary.
  • You work autonomously to resolve most support issues.
  • You are able to execute small projects on your own, and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects.
  • You act as the initial escalation point for junior technicians.
  • You understand all aspects of the equipment you support.
  • You know how to innovate and make decisions on his/her own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved.

Projects:

  • 90% break fix work – working on posts and
  • Unsellable projects

Typical Day in the Role

Typical Tasks:

  • 75% data halls working – won’t have access to any tech like phones and smart watches, Only work computers
  • 25% at desk working or on break

Interaction with team:

  • FT technicians working closely
  • With HM if they are OOO or can’t go in office – acts as HR, not involved in showing them how to do the work

Preferred (nice to have) Skills/Experience:

  • Worked / build computers

Required Degrees/Certifications:

  • Comp TIA
  • Linux cloud
  • Any cloud practitioner
  • CS education / systems

Disqualifiers:

  • No certifications or education in CS / computer info systems

Top 3 must-have hard skills

  • Hand on experience with computer tech/ parts | 1 yr of experience
  • Education on how computers function
  • Fast learner, retains knowledge
