Requirementso Media Buyers will negotiate TV, radio and local cable buys within guidelines and best practices reflecting client goals/objectives and competitive pricing.o Provide appropriate stewardship of buys within acceptable timelines established for each client - including, but not limited to acceptable make-goods and discrepancy resolutiono Provide post buy delivery within acceptable tolerance - including rerates, pre-posts, post logs, monitoring and analysis of overnight / weekly data in metered markets and compensatory trackingo Create buyers' campaigns in MediaOceano Complete client forms for buy reportso Pull and submit reports for buy reportingo Provide media and market information as requested and as neededo Oversee and supervise Assistants and their responsibilitieso Assist in the training of Assistants in the buying processo Ability to produce top-quality work in a fast-paced environment. Able to adapt to changes in client objectives, priorities or budgets while minimizing impact on project momentumo Strong time management skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize o Strong follow through and attention to detail and accuracyo Media Buyers also need to be able to research their assigned markets for insights into the competitive landscape, estimated rating projections, average ratings by daypart, maximum trps per daypart based on current client objectives and guidelines and pricing.o Writing point of view (POV) papers to help evaluate opportunities for the client may be required at times. Media Buyers should be able to have conversations with media partners to understand an opportunity, use the media resources available to them to evaluate the opportunity, and write up an informative yet concise POV for their client.o Master the buying process for TV, radio and cable including but not limited to LPM, Metered and Diary markets for TV and PPM and diary markets for radio. In cable, have a full understanding of interconnects and soft systems and rating based on LPM, Fusion or NDM.o The Media Buyer should have a working knowledge of several syndicated tools to assist their decisions when building a media buy for a client or specific campaign. Several systems with regular use in the department include MediaOcean, Nielsen TV ratings, Nielsen Audio ratings SQAD and other relevant research tools. They report to a Media Supervisor or Associate Media Director where they receive mentorship, guidance, and direction to plan and execute media buys which help build their client's business. They assist their supervisor in the execution of initiatives to help fully build upon their potential and gain experience in new areas. They buy strategically by looking at trends, competitive, client goals and objectives, and by having a good understanding of the marketplace and strategic business insights and creative idea. In addition, Media Buyers are expected to know how to multi-task and keep a lot of balls in the air Media Buyers work closely with the rep community to ensure that communication is in constant flow and that all responsible parties are coordinating to meet the needs of our clients. They regularly attend internal training sessions as well as meetings with external partners in order to build their knowledge base and establish a more comprehensive understanding of the overall media landscape. They are also regularly responsible for maintaining buys, meeting strict deadlines, and the training of other support staff.
