Position Overview:

We are seeking a diligent and dedicated individual to join our team as an Environmental Services Worker at Pullman Regional Hospital. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall maintenance of our hospital facilities. The ideal candidate will possess excellent attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

About the Team:

Environmental Services is the front line of infection prevention at Pullman Regional Hospital. As such, the department functions as a knowledgeable group of professionals who meet the needs of various departments within our complex healthcare facilities, and maintain a patient care environment that is safe and comfortable for the delivery of healthcare.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming floors, corridors, and patient rooms.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Dispose of trash and medical waste in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and handrails.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies as needed.
  • Follow proper infection control protocols to prevent the spread of germs and pathogens.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with special cleaning projects as assigned, such as floor waxing, carpet shampooing, and deep cleaning.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times when interacting with patients, families, and hospital staff.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and drug screening as required by the hospital.
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Any other duties as needed to drive towards the vision, fulfil the mission, and abide by the values of the organization.
Required Skills:
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Required Education, Licensure, Certifications, & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education, Certifications, & Experience:
  • Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing/Walking: 100%.
  • Frequent lifting/pushing/pulling to mop floors, move carts, access supplies and move furniture.
  • Occasional carrying of custodial supplies.
  • Occasional climbing of stairs to reach other levels of the building and to use a two-step ladder.
  • Frequent balancing with the cleaning of low or high surfaces and to empty garbage.
  • Frequent stooping/kneeling/crouching to perform a wide variety of cleaning tasks.
  • Frequent reaching/handling to perform all cleaning tasks.
  • Frequent talking to communicate with staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Constant hearing/seeing to perform cleaning functions.
  • Physical demands include lifting and carrying heavy objects, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Environmental Conditions:
  • Location: Inside.
  • This position may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and biological hazards commonly found in healthcare environments.


Travel Requirements:

Travel between clinics as needed.
