Payroll Tax Analyst
This is a contract opportunity.
About this position
As a Payroll Tax Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely filing of payroll and unemployment tax returns for the company and its subsidiaries. Your responsibilities will extend to researching tax regulations, maintaining compliance with legislative changes, conducting audit testing, and adhering to Sarbanes-Oxley regulations. This position requires a meticulous individual with strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of payroll and employment tax la ws.
Job Responsibilities
Ensure timely payment of payroll tax liabilities, reviewing weekly reports for compliance and collaborating with Payroll to address issues.
Serve as a liaison for the unemployment service provider, reviewing accruals, preparing quarterly state unemployment returns, and reconciling the General Ledger account.
Stay updated on federal and state tax literature for compliance and implement tax technology for compliance and savings opportunities.
Gather and maintain SOX-compliant documentation and conduct quarterly testing of audit controls.
Undertake assigned special projects, contributing to process improvement.
Skills/Requirements
Knowledge of and ability to interpret payroll and employment tax laws
Strong PC skills, excellent communication, organizational proficiency, meticulous attention to detail.
Experience: 1 - 2 years of accounting-related experience.
Additional Information:
Local candidates preferred, but remote candidates will be considered.
Perm conversion only available for local candidates, who will be asked to work a hybrid schedule
Pay/Salary Range:
$38-42/hour
