Overview Virtual Care Triage RN Sr. at Texas Oncology. This remote virtual triage nurse (RN) supports the Virtual Care Program. Candidates must hold an RN license recognized by the state of Texas. Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country, operating 600+ providers across 220+ sites in Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. The mission is to deliver high?quality, high?touch, evidence?based cancer care, enabling patients to fight cancer at home with critical support from family and friends nearby. Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities for the Virtual Triage Nurse (RN): Addresses patient calls, portal messages and emails in a timely manner concerning a wide range of symptom/side effect related topics. Assesses urgency of patient symptoms/side effects and addresses them appropriately, aggressively managing them to prevent unnecessary emergency department and hospital utilization. Documents all conversations with patients to maintain a comprehensive medical record. Provides clear instruction and education to patients via the telephone. Collaborates with physicians via electronic communication, face to face, or the telephone to discuss patient care needs that cannot be independently and appropriately addressed using standing orders or practice protocols. Sets up same?day and/or future provider/infusion room appointments to address symptom management concerns. Qualifications The ideal candidate for the Virtual Triage Nurse (RN) will have the following background and experience: Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education; BSN preferred. Minimum of 3 years oncology nursing experience. Willing to consider a mid or senior level experienced candidate. Oncology or applicable specialty experience required. Current RN state license with the applicable State Board of Nursing. Current CPR certification required. Working Conditions This position is in a traditional office environment. Physical Requirements Large percent of time performing computer?based work is required. This role requires standing, use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, walking, talking, and hearing. Employees frequently stand; use hands to touch or feel; and reach with arms. Walking, talking, hearing, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling are occasionally required.
