Our client in Novi, MI is looking for an Welding Engineer. This is a contract position.
The Technology Integration team creates innovative prototypes, demonstrators, and experimental vehicles/batteries on a rapid development cycle to showcase battery technology.It is a small team with a hands-on approach to all aspects of battery integration requiring each member to be energetic, adaptable, and easily collaborate with colleagues.
Your role will be a Welding Subject Matter Expert who collaborates directly with the engineers and technicians.You will be able to assist in the design, creation, and development of systems.
- To design, examine and evaluate welds.
- Plan, supervise and document welding operations.
- Advise selection of welding equipment, fixturing and inspection equipment.
- Provide technical expertise and troubleshoot welding issues.
- Read and write technical drawings.
- Perform calculations based on welding guidelines.
- Establish and coordinate weld and welder qualification procedures.
- Oversee wire feed, gas tungsten arc welding and laser welding processes.
- Work alongside welders to understands process improvement possibilities.
- 5year's experience as a welding engineer required.
- Experience with laser welding required and wire feed welding desired.
- Bachelors degree in Weld Engineering preferred.
- Bachelors degree in engineering or materials science required.
- Experience with computer aided design tools.
- Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical problems that arise.
- Ability to work independently and provide direction is essential.
- Should have a positive and professional attitude.
