Science & Technology Program Coordinator

The West Fargo Park District is seeking a creative professional to serve as our Program Coordinator for science and special interest classes. As a Program Coordinator, you will collaborate with a supervising Recreation Specialist and work in conjunction with the Art Program Coordinator, as well as other Program Coordinators and Assistants, to provide engaging and interactive classes for West Fargo Park District program participants.

This position is approximately 25-40 hours per week from June through mid-August, to include weekdays and sporadic weekday evenings. These hours will consist of class prep and instruction related to science technology programming and class instruction related to creative arts, in addition to working at all special events.

Responsibilities

Prep

and teach science classes, clean-up after science and art classes,

and work at all special events (approximately 95% youth classes and 5%

adult programs).

Create

engaging lesson plans including projects, hands-on activities, and visual

presentations for single and multi-day recreation classes.

Research

current trends to keep classes content relevant.

Ensure

the safety and well-being of all participants.

Provide

instruction and project examples for participants.

Communicate

openly with the supervising Recreation Specialist.

Provide

a great recreational experience for participants with a variety of

abilities, behaviors, and backgrounds.

Keep

the Creative Studio organized and presentable.

Maintain

and inventory Creative Studio supplies.

Submit

timely supply order requests to the supervising Recreation

Specialist.

Perform

other basic tasks as needed, as directed by the Recreation Specialist.

Requirements

Ability

to commit to the West Fargo Park District for the entire summer season

from June to mid-August. Classes are typically Monday-Thursday with

occasional Fridays. Weekend hours are not required.

Must

be able to multi-task, adapt to change, and make quick decisions.

Experience

with and genuine enjoyment working with children.

Excellent

verbal and listening skills, organization, planning, and problem-solving

skills.

Must

be able to manage a classroom while also providing a fun and relaxed

experience for participants.

Basic

knowledge of scientific methods and the ability to explain science

experiments to children,

Basic

experience with painting, drawing, mixed media, and a variety of other art

mediums, with the ability to explain directions, as directed by the Art

Program Coordinator.

Must

have basic computer, smart TV, and technology knowledge. Google Slides and

Google Chromecast experience preferred.

Must

be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for sit for extended periods of time.
